I worked at Horizon Systems, Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Standard 8-5 schedule
Good location on the outskirts of Lawrence
    Working on updating building

    Cons

Management team changes focus and goals every 6 mo. No real guidance. Employee favoritism. Huge gap in payroll, vacation time & leave for various positions in the company. Pricey health insurance. Outdated tech equipment. No real sense of 'teamwork.' Clear division between office & shop employees. No maternity leave, funeral leave or sick leave for employees. Lack of training.

    Advice to Management

Above all else treat employees fairly and with respect. Value their opinions & treat them as professional working adults, not children. Horizon is all a game of favorites. Management team needs to get on the same page, update handbook & stick to regulations. Value employees family lives and provide leinence & understanding for absenses or schedule changes. Drinking on company property....illegal. Various romantic relationships between employees and management.

I worked at Horizon Systems, Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people for the most part were fun to work with. The environment was good. Mon/Fri 8-5 is always a good option. They were in the process of renovating. The office was beginning to look really good! The operations side was way more organized than sales at the time I worked there.

    Cons

Always changing. . .couldn't stick with any plan for longer than 3 months to see if it would really work. Reviews and pay were terrible never on time and raises. . .very minimal unless you were someone in management or system sales. No employee outings or a thank you for your work. It was beginning to be more corporate then a family ran business. Meetings meeting and more meetings that really didn't get things accomplished.

    Advice to Management

Work on raises to the lower income employees. . make a perks plan for employees. . .like a attendance incentive or something. . .get that place exciting to work at. It used to be years ago. I loved it there.

Had several people in positions that they didn't belong in.
    Not at all innovative.
    Broken promises.
    No advancement opportunities.
Break room didn't have air in it.

    Pros

The Company does carry Insurance benefit package. The Company does have a competitive pay scale. They are relaxed on there dress code policies. The owner of the Company understands what family time is about.

    Cons

A lot of misscommunication. Favortism is shown by Supervisors. The co-workers tended to be childish instead of worrying about their jobs.

    Advice to Management

The Company needs better communication skills. They should not ask an employee to do jobs off the clock and not get paid for them. Especially when the job they ask you to do has nothing to do with your title.
