I have been working at Hormel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company with a long and strong financial history, plenty of projects going on so there are different areas of the business to get involved with, good bonus potential, joint profit sharing, pension plan

    Cons

IT department is very outdated in regards to what technology is available, hard to get lateral movement within department as positions don't tend to open frequently, poor vacation allotment, Austin is a retirement community of about 25,000 with Minneapolis about two hours north and Rochester 40 minutes northeast. If you are a millennial this will be a tough sell.

    Pros

Hormel was one of my favorite places to work since coming out of college. The company advertises the promote from within mentality and they follow thru with it.

    Great management team, benefits.

Smart and hard working people there.

    Cons

The remote location hurt my longevity with the company. With dual working professionals in my family it was hard as my significant other had an office located in the cities.

    Advice to Management

If there was one thing that stood out to me it was the lack of diversity.
There is a lot of "good" going on here, the portfolio is broadening and changing with consumer demand. I just hope the company doesn't lose touch with the family like feel as it continues to grow.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. The people and relationships are second to none.

    Cons

The hours can be long and the company has moved toward cost savings and earnings focus that makes resources challenging.

    Advice to Management

Opportunity abounds, but be prepared to sacrifice to get there.
