    Pros

Great people, great products, great responsibility. Hormel provides opportunities to people who want to work to be successful. Then, you are rewarded for the success you achieve. Upper management are easy to talk with and approachable. They are also great leaders in a very difficult industry.

    Cons

Working conditions can be challenging where you are dealing with the temperature of a food processing plant. However, anything easy in life typically does not provide the rewards, career growth, and opportunities that Hormel does for its employees.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management has always invested time and resources into their employees which has made the company successful. Please continue to produce, at a low cost, value added products to the consumer allowing you to retain your competitive advantage and giving you the opportunity to provide people a great place to work.

I worked at Hormel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Continues to inovate with successful new product launches.
Great training when you come onboard.
Logistics, product quality, and policies are consistent.
Great Area Managers that are knowledgable and resourceful.
Marketing provides great materials to help you sell.

    Cons

Being asked to do more with less more and more.
Must be ready to move. As soon as you don't you lose all support.
Mid-management can be vindictive and withold promotions if you aren't willing to pick up and move to anywhere they want to send you.
Mid management is out of touch with what is realistic and they apply standards nationwide with no regard for regional differences.
They continue to rely, measure, and evaluate on quantity instead of quality of work activity.

    Advice to Management

Stop ignoring the work life balance feedback given on surveys.
Reduce the wait period to get a title change when given new responsibilities. It makes no sense. Twice the work with small increase after a 2+ year waiting period?
Become much more progressive when it comes to using technology. It can increase efficiencies, reduce office time. Re-evaluate the changing industry. Does the current alignment and structure still make sense considering the changes?
