    Pros

    Very good company takes care of employees on all fronts. Good insurance , good boats and crew all missing is just your willingness to work.

    Cons

    Because of the downturn in the economy things are a little uncertain but everything that goes down must come up again.
    Don't underestimate Hornbeck.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the faith until there is no more and even then still.....
    You have always given your employees the best so feel no shame in the position we as a company are facing it to shall soon pass.

    I worked at Hornbeck Offshore full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Safe;
    -Professional compared with ECO and others;
    -Sometimes pay for training;

    Cons

    -Too, annoyingly safe. Let us be mariners and just get jobs done;
    -Sometime pay for training;
    -Changed to 2:! schedule and lost many good mariners they won't get back.

    Advice to Management

    If you care to hire and keep quality mariners, you must ask the Captain's / Chief's how to do that. And you actually have to listen and follow through with those things.

    Pros

    Downturn yes, if you were laid off, it's the nature of the beast. Business 101. This is a great company trying to survive an economic downturn which will last longer than any, the oilfield has experienced previous. The company is cleansing itself of personnel such as CVA, best thing that could have ever happened.

    Cons

    You have to survive, whatever it takes to keep the peace in a difficult environment. It's not the most comfortable place to work, better be able to adjust to change immediately.

    Advice to Management

    Being rid of CVA, is a great start.

    Stay the current course!; Continue to listen and act upon employee suggestions; Continue mariner to shoreside relations as positive means of effective communication between fleet and HQ employees.

    Pros

    My thoughts of Hornbeck Offshore management is one of the most superb in the country. Pay, bonuses, and benefits are extremely above and beyond.

    Cons

    Time spent away from family is the worst as one could be away for a minimum of six to nine months out of the year.

    Advice to Management

    There are always improvements for any company. As one should know planned communication to every individual is challenging and doable.
