I worked at Horsemen Investigations full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Working unsupervised, expenses are covered prior working out of town, consecutive days off, a flexible schedule and awesome Christmas/appreciation parties.

    Cons

Field surveillance investigators should be provided with a company vehicle or gas card. Only because the federal gas per mile rate is too low to make any profit.

    Advice to Management

Have no advice, pretty well oiled machine far as operation goes.

I worked at Horsemen Investigations full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Cool gig if you like to drive and travel, at first. And if you like to feel like you are still in high school.

    Cons

Everything else. There exist a (extremely pathetic) subculture here (former high school wannabe jocks and fired cops) that is predominantly white and ignorant and racist. Women are underpaid here and so are "colored" people. Those who are racists are long-time employees favored by HR and management. Many cases of bullying exist by the long-time employees and the outcomes never favorite the bullied--who are not white....

    Advice to Management

Not sure. Maybe go out of business. Get people who are not ignorant, white and/or racists.

I have been working at Horsemen Investigations full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

      - Competitive wages (compared to other PI agencies); employees have been know to leave and return - They'll do their best to accommodate any time off requests - Daily "attaboys" in an effort to recognize employees - $30 per diem for out of town cases - A lot of independence while working (minimally managed) - Minimal communication with the office and management, which is primarily done via emails - Potential for...

      - Occasionally work schedules can prove exceptionally difficult; return home at midnight and leave for work by 5am (sometimes worse) * - Potential traffic or parking tickets incurred while working would likely not be reimbursed by employer * - If you don't live near the headquarters, there's essentially no upward growth within the company * - Working during holidays / blackout dates * - Out of town cases * - Slow...

      Advice to Management

      - Do better to ensure a more consistent work schedule - Provide an easily accessible employee handbook (PDF) - If possible, provide an advanced monetary allowance in lieu of per diem rates - Provide company swag for employees (especially PIs)

I have been working at Horsemen Investigations full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Firstly, the training is hands down the most structured, and efficient I have experienced. Training continues to improve and are open to all types of feedback. They will teach you the fundamentals and encourage you to be successful in your craft. The scheduler accommodates to the investigators life needs and promotes a good work life balance. Every investigator I have come across in this company has great talent...

I have been working at Horsemen Investigations full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

I have been working at Horsemen for a few years now and I'm actually shocked with some of the reviews on here. Personally, I love working for Horsemen! It's a small office setting (25 people) very casual environment. Why do I love working for Horsemen? It's great to work for someone that grinds with you on a daily. Yes, the owner of Horsemen is in the office by 5am sometimes earlier and works on weekends (leads by...

      Cons

I don't really have anything bad to say about Horsemen. If you can't do your job and are sensitive then Horsemen is not for you and management will let you know. That is not Horsemen though, that is anywhere you work.

      Advice to Management

      More happy hours :)

      Cons

Shortage of investigators. Sink or swim when first starting without experience

      Advice to Management

A more thorough training program would be very helpful. Keep up the hard work, you guys are awesome!

    • "Could be a cool place with some fixes"

      StarStarStarStarStar
        Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Horsemen Investigations full-time

        Pros

Office location; good people in staff; company is committed to deliver quality product. People working in the fields / investigators may have a different perspective.

        Cons

Whoever posted the review on August 1 did a pretty good job in describing the office environment. The CFO lady who rules the office seems to be sharp and dedicated, but she is lacking in tact and people management skills. I felt that I was treated by the CEO fairly and with respect, however, I see how people can be intimidated by him.

        Advice to Management

Keep working on company culture, create clear communication channels, develop soft skills at managers. It looks that poor reviews about the office started appearing about a year ago – something must have happened back then.

I worked at Horsemen Investigations full-time for more than 2 years

        Pros

Excellent pre-employment training and ongoing support. Accessible management. Continual feedback on work. Positive reinforcement. Generous PTO. High professional work standards. Team atmosphere where investigators are encouraged to communicate with one another.

        Cons

Low starting pay and travel pay. Duplicative paperwork required at the end of each shift. Occasional nitpicking in some areas, mainly for minor paperwork mistakes.

        Advice to Management

That's about it. I enjoyed my time at Horsemen.
