I worked at Horseshoe Gaming part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a very exciting, fun, action-oriented environment to work in. There are great co-workers with great personalities to work with. They also have good pay and great benefits.

    Cons

Every now and then you will get some shady customers, who sometimes can be problematic, not a big deal though. The organization will say it's fun and every day is different, which is sort of true, but it is still rather bureaucratic.

I worked at Horseshoe Gaming full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Affordable health care, parking on-site (no shuttles)

    Cons

Long term employees who are paid at the upper levels of their wage ranges are too often either laid off or management creates an environment for them which encourages them to resign. Don't plan on staying long term because loyalty and job performance are only important to them if you are at the lower or mid level of your pay range. The casino business is a dirty business where you will do well in the short-term, but unless you don't cost them a lot of money, don't plan on retiring there. Between questionable management, fluctuations in the volume of business, and mergers and acquisitions, it's almost impossible to find many employees who started in or near 1994 when Horseshoe opened. It was different prior to the Harrah's acquisition, then another group bought it, then Caesar's took over. Every time that happens, the bean counters look for new ways to cut off fingers and toes to make the package look more financially attractive. My opinion only.

    Advice to Management

Talk to Jack Binion for a reminder on what to do for customers and employees to succeed.

    Pros

Great experience. Availability to move around the country as you climb the latter. Its a fast paced environment.

    Cons

Its very stressful. Crazy work schedule. You are on your feet 8 or more hours a day, 5 days a week. No paid holidays. Its rare to have a weekend day off.

    Advice to Management

Rotate schedules so all employees are able to have one full weekend off a month. Pay your employees holiday pay!
