I have been working at Hospira full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Good pay
    -Great 401k
-Good place to get starting experience in the pharma industry
-Large plant, so there are a variety of positions open
-Job openings for a large variety of jobs and various experience levels

    Cons

-Quite a bit of favoritism from management
-Culture of the plant very highly values just being there. Example: an employee who does next to nothing but spends 60+ hrs a week there would be looked on more favorably than one who does twice as much but is there for 40 hours a week. There's just a very old school "I did my time" attitude about everyone.
-Speaking of old, the equipment is ancient and constantly broken down. Twice as much of my time is spent discovering issues and waiting for maintenance than actually performing testing.
-Way too political . The egos of upper management are more important than doing things right. Doesn't matter what you know or how good your solution/idea is, it'll be ignored if you don't have a certain title.
-Way too many managers and directors are clearly only in their position due to favoritism, family, or just because they're been there for years and not because of merit or competence.
-Constantly cut hours of hourly employees and expect salary employees to work longer hours to save money.
-Too much finger pointing. When something goes wrong, the first question is "who's fault is this" instead of "okay how should we fix this".

    Advice to Management

    -Upgrade the equipment.
-Spend more time coming up with a proper solution instead of just rushing into things.
-More focus on actual work done and ideas, and less focus on how much time someone spends there.
-Listen to the ideas of employees who do work on the actual equipment every day, instead of a bunch of incompetent managers who sit behind a desk all day
