I worked at Hostess Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They pay very well. They have good benefits.

    Cons

In case of emergency the company will give you the ok to take off but when you return they will terminate you.

    Advice to Management

Take into consideration that employees' sometimes have emergency that comes up and they have no control over natural causes and if they keep terminating everyone who have family emergency that the company will continue to have a big turnover. Also PLEASE WEAR GLOVES WHEN TOUCHING THOSE CAKES, AND CLEAN BELTS WHEN BUGS HAVE BEEN SPOTTED ON CONVEYER BELTS.

    Pros

They were flexible with my schedule and the two ladies I worked with were great. The pay was good as well.

    Cons

I saw a lot of waste. Over baking thousands of dollars worth of product then sending it to the thrift stores to sell for ridiculously cheap. I can see partly how the company ended up the bankruptcy twice within several years.

    Advice to Management

    There is no management left.

I worked at Hostess Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, great products, good leadership (now). Really enjoyed the vast majority of most of the people I worked with and the leadership was focused and creative. I felt like my leadership heard me when I spoke and took my suggestions and observations seriously.

    Cons

history of poor labor management decisions. Company struggled to remain relevant because of poor leadership decisions from the past. Failure to copyright the cupcake squiggle left market imitators free to copy. Bad labor contracts were hard to remove/update. Sense of entitlement from some organized labor elements and divisive input from union locals and other union leadership created very turbulent working environment at times.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid of collective bargaining agreements, but don't give away the house either.
