I have been working at Hostmark Hospitality full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I work in an amazing industry where I have the opportunity to effect change every single day. I have a great sense of worth as a member of the Hostmark team. Our company size allows us to stay competitive, in an ever changing market, and do things faster and better than our competitors. Hostmark walks the line between traditional and cutting edge hospitality management. There is so much to learn and do at Hostmark, you will not get bored. The vision and culture of Hostmark is one that embraces and encourages strategies and creativity from all of our artists. We are all artists that practice the Art of Service. Every job description in our company can be summarized down to - I create memorable experiences for our guests. Lastly, I have job security here that I have not found anywhere else. Many of the people I work along side have been with the company for over 10 years.

    Cons

Probably the one con worth mentioning is our reliance on investment funds. Our business rises and falls, with a certain alignment, to the overall market. While we do work on both sides of the equation, buying and selling properties, sometimes the market forces rapid sell off or rapid acquisition. Rapid anything can make it difficult to make the best informed choices. We do it better than most. We are not perfect. We can only look at our mistakes and try to grow from them. Aside from that, you may find that other companies can compensate you a little better. That said, I will take job security over a few extra bucks any day of the week.

    Advice to Management

Keep an open mind. Sometimes the most talented of us are simply in the wrong position and just need to find our calling in another. Alwways think of the future and where Hostmark needs to be.

I have been working at Hostmark Hospitality full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Electronic employee onboarding, owners that put money into the hotels.

    Cons

No support, unorganized, regionals lack experience and unprofessional behavior. Not trustworthy and not up front with the conditions of hotels. Allows poor management to stay on for years with no Don’t like the pay cycle...it’s odd. Bad reputation in community, but turns a blind eye to issues.

    Advice to Management

Be honest and forthright with your teams and your owners. Trust them to do their job. You have dirty laundry that the public doesn’t know about

I worked at Hostmark Hospitality full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Collected a paycheck, paid on time

    Cons

Management does not listen to employees and supervisors get away with yelling and cursing at employees and customers without any repercussions. If you liked to be degraded and yelled at this would be a perfect job for you. Never been so poorly treated at a job in my life.

    Advice to Management

Take a long hard look at your supervisors who show up when they want and treat employees like trash. Your lucky that no one has filed a harassment charges or a lawsuit yet. ‭

I worked at Hostmark Hospitality full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No pros. The company lies to their employees, follows no regulations. I feel terrible for the people stuck working for such an establishment.

    Cons

The management runs by their own rules. They underpay, under appreciate and run a company with no regards for their employees. Since this management company took over the marriott in Salt Lake City they have lowered pay, fired or ran out all senior employees, they have lowered food quality, took away all entertainment aspects for guests such as pool tables and soon they will be taking away the pool that provides all the guests including children especially the ones staying for health care some form of entertainment in the hotel. They have fired over 40 employees in the duration of 8 months. The corporation supports all of this. Not marriott. Hostmark

    Advice to Management

I would investigate the underpayment of employees, the mistreatment by upper management, and also the violation of state laws towards the employees working for this company.

I worked at Hostmark Hospitality full-time

    Pros

Nothing positive to say. Experience was negative in every way. Corporate management style, benefits, support, work life balance. Everything was far below previous industry experience. No one seemed to know what they were doing.

    Cons

Very unorganized. Little to no support from corporate office. Very reactionary. Poor communication.

    Advice to Management

Corporate office needs to support management at the hotels.
