    Pros

Fun Environment & great people-- birthday celebrations each month

    Cons

Portray themselves as a luxury brand, but are closer to a mid-level Marriott hotel. Health benefits are CRAZY EXPENSIVE

I have been working at Hotel Nikko SF full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Although we are part of a large company, we are very independent and if someone has an idea or wants something added or changed it usually gets approved quite fast. For example our culinary team & GM had the idea of adding a food truck to showcase our Anzu restaurant - 6 months later we have a food truck!

    Lots of promotions from within.

Employees are all very happy - which makes it a lot easier to come to work everyday.

    Great medical Benefits

General Manager is very present and likes to be involved with employees, it's very obvious she cares about all of her employees.

    In-house training programs.

    Free meals!

    Cons

Small company, not a lot of room for growth within your department. Usually the only way to move up is wait for someone to leave or transfer to a different department.

    Advice to Management

    None yet.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Hotel Nikko SF full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Japanese based chain hotel operated in downtown San Francisco. Friendly employees and sense of team unity. One of the few non-union properties in downtown San Francisco, so there is a lot of flexibility. Also, compensation was equal to most union properties at the entry level. Phenomenal healthcare packages.

    Cons

Irregular hours and lack of set schedule did begin to make work life balance out of whack.
No formal training program for management leaves several competing styles and inconsistencies with procedures.
Lack of union lead to certain situations that negatively impacted employees

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at your corporate culture and figure out what is important. If it's just profits, then be prepared for unionization. People are your best assets, be sure to treat them as such.
