    Pros

Small teams enable 1:1 time with direct managers who coach you to help get where you want to be

    Cons

Competitive marketplace, fast paced environment creates a very Darwin like scenario where you either adapt or you don't do well here

    Advice to Management

Be aware of the pressures on the team, don't necessarily let the foot off the gas but stay cognizant

I have been working at Hotwire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love working here. People are supportive, higher management wants u to grow, and the company pay is above average. So many opportunities to grow.

    Cons

Lack of social activities, other than this can't think of anything as of now. Overall, expecting the company to grow despite being in a extremely competitive industry.

    Advice to Management

HR should be more involved in arranging social events for employees. This will allow employees to be more involved and aware of other teams.

Company really needs to consider hiring good graphic designers for the website. The site can improve UI/UX to great potential.

Hire young talent, they bring new ideas and food for thought that can help the company reach millennials better

    Cons

They are struggling business wise and had lay offs.

    Pros

The place is crawling with brainiacs. They may be quiet; they may have their heads down but they're seriously smart. And not just the "new" employees. "Old Timers" didn't get that way from being sub-par performers. It's fun (for me, at least) to know I work with people who could indeed answer all the "impossible" interview questions but don't come off as Mensa nimrods. Just doin' the job, doing it well and having fun while doing it.

    Cons

I don't want to be a complete Pollyanna, but if one must work, one might as well do it at a place like Hotwire. Like any workplace, a single day can be ruined by an absent-minded co-worker or a tough deadline but, all in all, I think people feel valued and genuinely proud of their company.

    Advice to Management

Ummmm....it would be a mistake to say something bad about management, or senior management. Not because I'm afraid (although I do get nervous around Mr. Bason!) but because, from where I sit, things are going well. Really well.

    Pros

Great place to work. Great environment with a tremendous work/life balance. Management listens to feedback and everyone wants to succeed.

    Cons

Other then compensation, not really any cons. Great place to learn in an exciting environment, lots of people have left and been very successful with startups, so obviously they are doing well at attracting talent.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

    Pros

    I am happy with Benefits

    Cons

I never get recognised being here for so many years.

    Advice to Management

Recognise your direct reports on work they do not from projection or feedback from others.

    Pros

Good compensation, vacation days, travel discount, latest technologies.

    Cons

Gets monotonous after a while. You keep doing the same work.

    Advice to Management

Please don't be partial. Need to recognize employees contribution.

  11. "Strong performer in the travel industry in SF, with few downsides"

    Pros

    1. Company hires good, smart, motivated people
    2. Company is a leader across the travel industry in a number (perhaps most) funcational areas
    3. The business is growing and the company has the resources to spend on innovation
    4. There isn't a culture of over-work and face-time; get your work done and go home (or go out)
    5. A lot of laughter. Folks don't take themselves too seriously

    Cons

    1. Flexible work policy isn't that flexible
    2. Salaries and benefits are OK but not stellar
    3. It's a medium-sized business (100-200 people); career progression is limited unless you're willing to transfer to another Expedia Inc. business, which would likely mean moving

    Advice to Management

The people make all the difference. Keep investing in them.
