    I worked at Hotwire full-time

    Pros

Hotwire is a subsidiary of Expedia and Expedia is a leader in the industry with great benefits. The travel industry can be fun and exciting. The employees are very nice and intelligent people to work with.

    Cons

Legacy systems are a drag on the company. Management direction seems overly reactionary and changes occur at a significantly higher rate than execution and delivery.

    Advice to Management

Hotwire needs to execute at all levels and value knowledge and experience.

    Pros

Good pay & benefits, great time off, and lots of fun.

    Cons

Lack of growth opportunities, even for top performers.
Leadership says Hotwire advocates for both diversity and openness, but the people/culture are carefully cultivated to be homogeneous & fit a specific mold.

I worked at Hotwire full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - smart and driven people
    - great location. Close to a lot of food and coffee shops.
    - good perks (travel reimbursement, hot dollars)

    Cons

    - Too many strategy changes and re-orgs. There's been two re-orgs in a span of 4 months.
    - Leadership always talks about innovation, but never wants to invest the resources required to effectively ship
    - Tries to operate like a startup, but things move way too slow. A feature that takes 2 sprints actually end up taking 6 sprints, because different teams aren't working cohesively together.

I worked at Hotwire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The travel benefits, the opportunity of learning new technology because there was so much free time.

    Cons

Hiring decision was unclear, some didn't even meet the basic criteria but still got the jobs and even survived the recent lay-off.

    Advice to Management

Just keep doing re-org every 3 months and nothing will get done.
