Pros
Manageable workload; a lot of good people; leaders at company generally seem to care about employees of color, employees with disabilities, etc. You feel like you're doing work that ultimately helps children.
Cons
Heavy bureaucracy, some toxicity especially at higher levels, relatively low pay, some roles are extremely demanding, frequent major changes (acquisitions, sell-offs, layoffs, etc.) never making me feel 100% secure in my job.
Pros
Established Process driven Respectful Long-term Collaborative
Cons
Decision processing Agility Large - can be just a number Inequality in compensation
- Former Employee, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
The "movers & shakers" in the company were quite good (helpful and supportive). Management was lost in the "publishing forest" desperately search for a way to increase revenue. Acquired technology without doing proper due diligence thereby resulting in unforeseen consequences.
Cons
The "dead wood" in the company were in survival mode. There had been significant friction between the business units and the IT group. This put the IT department in survival mode often too afraid to explain simplistic IT strategies proposed by upper management (i.e., CTO, CIO). Politics often overruled solid technical recommendations.
Continue reading - Current Employee, more than 10 years★★★★★
Pros
Amazing coworkers. Good pay. Flexible work conditions
Cons
Too much change, oftentimes without systems and procedures in place ready to handle. Employees live in constant fear of layoffs which strike often and without any relationship to job performance or contribution to bottom line
Continue reading - Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
worthwhile mission smart and kind colleagues flexibility
Cons
compensation could be better limited mobility bureaucratic
Continue reading - Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Creating products for students and teachers is fulfilling, but the systems in place make for inefficiencies.
Cons
Since sale of trade division and focus on technology, the heart and soul has left. They say all the right things, but don't properly reward the people who do the work. Very complicated systems for manufacturing and production makes employees inefficent.
Continue reading - Current Employee, more than 10 years★★★★★
Pros
Good benefits and perks. Remote
Cons
Company constantly changing policies, protocols, and resources. Growth struggles.
Pros
All employees are responsive and professional
Cons
was too small to compete at some levels
