    Sinking fast

    Pros

Pay was decent, people that I first worked with there, were great

    Cons

They did a house cleaning to dump everyone not thinking their way. Commission structure poor. Managers are pretty clueless and leading teams they have never dealt with before. Micro managers, every single one. Lot of friends getting hired for positions that didn't exist but all of sudden did and were filled quickly. CEO and such clueless on sales yet making decisions that they don't truly understand. KPI KPI KPI, enough already, got it, you need something to do and micro manage people you have no idea how to manage. Wrong people in management roles, drove a lot of reps and managers away from company and customers are annoyed at constant change in reps. Managers pretty much said we can change at any time, customers buy because of company not reps, you are wrong on so many levels, oh and that guy is gone now, surprise. Oh and answer that video call, now, then again, and again, let people work and sell, get off their back.

    Pros

They hire great people. They do things with good intentions but miss the big picture at times.

    Cons

They make too many changes and don't listen to people on certain product concerns.

    Okay

    Pros

The people were generally nice. Book publishing is female dominated, which I found empowering. You get to be around books all the time, and get lots for free. Great hours and located in an exciting part of the city (although the offices have moved since I worked there).

    Cons

I could barely scrape by on the salary. Barely any BIPOC around the office. Not much room for growth/transitioning into other departments. I also had a creepy/retaliatory boss. HR never met with me in person about it—I had to talk to a rep over the phone who was based in Texas. I think my boss got fired after I left, but it was presented as his "retirement". Hopefully that was a good spring cleaning and the office is better now! Most other people were nice.

    Don’t be fooled

    Oct 7, 2020 - Sales

    Business Outlook

    Pros

WFH life People at “your level” are friendly and helpful if needed

    Cons

Promotions are not due to skill, but due to those who “fly under the radar” and don’t make waves Always check your paycheck and be vigilant with HR and policies within your department— no one wants to tell you what’s really happening; they don’t like it when you ask questions out of genuine concern, interest, or understanding Constant jerking around w new protocols, job responsibilities Lay-offs constantly! Losing lots of gifted and talented people and keeping lots of dead weight / managers and directors that do very little and collect a fat paycheck Decision-makers are not realistic with what’s really happening with our customers. They speak as if they know or have this great vision for the future, which sounds good in theory, but in reality— there is and has been a rude awakening Most in company are very unhappy with job, company, and position— but are just there to collect a paycheck and go home. Leadership retaliates against those who provide legitimate input, even when solutions are offered Advice is to stay away - they’re not here in your best interest, but expect you to have their best interest
