I worked at Houlihan Lokey full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The financial restructuring group provided great deal experience, an opportunity to work with amazing people, strong learning experience, not too terrible hours for investment banking.

    Cons

It was investment banking, after all, and involves a lot of the grunt work that comes with. Deal flow also depended on the restructuring cycle so sometimes it was slow and work consisted of marketing and pitches.

    Advice to Management

I would advise management to encourage more teamwork and collaboration among the analysts, foster a culture of getting work done as opposed to doing unnecessary work.

Have a cut off of when comments or new work can be given to analysts

I worked at Houlihan Lokey (More than a year)

    Pros

There are many talented and smart people across the various departments. I found most everyone to be hard working, ambitious, and generally positive.

    Cons

The work life balance can be poor, as is common in the industry. There seems to be a controlled turnover mentality where many people are not necessarily encouraged onward with title or compensation.
