I have been working at House of Blues part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to see great live music.

    Cons

Sometimes it is quite crowded which can be stressful when trying to do your job.

    Advice to Management

Try to hire employees that have the potential to stay long enough to really learn the business of the restaurant so things can run as smooth as possible.

I have been working at House of Blues part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a cool work environment with different artists playing at the venue. Most of the staff is friendly and fun

    Cons

Guests can be rude in general but also because they are drinking. You will have to clean up vomit and constantly clean after people. The salary is insanely low for the work.

    Advice to Management

Raise the hourly wage to maintain staff qualify and motivation.

I worked at House of Blues full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Medical benefits, 401k and work perks. Free food. If you like music you'll get to see cool bands. If you do drugs they don't drug test so you'll fit in with all the other employees that do lots of drugs

    Cons

Egos and major "god" like complex by directors. People don't stay because of lack of consistency and pay. Working here felt like being back in HS.

    Advice to Management

Start paying employees competitive salaries, start drug testing

I have been working at House of Blues full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Flexible hours. That is all.

    Cons

Everything else. Pay, management, working conditions, ect

    Advice to Management

Start giving competitive pay. Fire half your management team. I'm not kidding. There is so much dead weight in management it isn't funny. Drug dealers/addicts, people who just sit and don't work, sexual harrassers. It's a giant lawsuit waiting to happen. Not mention management participates in wage theft and retaliation if you file a complaint. They will threaten to fire you if you report unsafe working conditions.

    Pros

One of the best venues to work for. Perks for shows, family like comradery between other employees in departments. Exposure

    Cons

feast or famine for FOH. Based on the volume of the shows. Not for BOH though
