Pros
I assisted over 300 homeless individuals obtain housing. The job is rewarding and less stressful than most jobs I've had. The office is kept very clean and I felt safe at all times. HACLA also has excellent management information systems and a helpful IT department. HACLA as a whole is diverse with hilarious employees. I laugh everyday.
Cons
Employees have to pay for parking ($100 a month), there are also union dues to pay. HR is CHEAP and unlawful to the rights of their employees. There is a big gap in education between old timers and new hires. This can make the office culture awkward. As an EI, social workers, clients, landlords, and my supervisor are constantly on me. Client's are homeless and want to be housed as quickly as possible, however, HACLA is a government bureaucracy and it takes time to approve a contract. Sometimes I have 50 voicemails in one day. The caseload is HIGH.

It is a temporary job.
