    Pros

Schedule-24 on 24 off 24on then 5 off. Pension-Is great as long as it doens't get dissolved. Everyone has advancement topportunities. The avenues through different levels of the fire department allow a lot of freedom from normal job routines. Build comradery through fellow firefighters.

    Cons

The risk of the job. Most get hurt in some aspect or another whether serious or not. The hours can be rough when on EMS units because your are awake for a full 24hours. The pay is very low for the size of the department.

    Advice to Management

Allow for more integrtion of EMS and Fire side. Incorporate a more unified station and look at opportunitees to train all levels of firefighters with the same respect.
