    Open schedule allows for LOTS of time off to pursue other careers.

    Government employee, subject to be victimized by political agendas.

    Good work schedule, which you will need for additional jobs.

    Cons

    Pay is poor, ranked 138th in the nation.
    City recently took away a large chunk of pension contributions.

    Advice to Management

    Remember where you came from.

    Pros

    Good hands on experience. Some free training. Brotherhood at some stations.

    Cons

    Old equipment, apparatus that hardly run, the mayor is a crook, low pay, no pension.

    Advice to Management

    Train personnel as much as possible in order to stay safe in and out of firestation. Also keep politicians away from our pension.

    Pros

    There are four shifts, 24 hrs a day, easy to pick up or trade shifts, excellent pension, there is a real brotherhood,overtime available

    Cons

    Your work schedule sometimes falls on holidays, weekends and family events,long days and nights working on the ambulance

    Advice to Management

    The fire department leadership is excellent. But I would ask that a better relationship be developed for the departments members, the citizens and the citys future.
