    I worked at Houston's Restaurant full-time

    Pros

Amazing staff that will be like family to you. Great training process and one of the best places to work as far as income!

    Cons

None I can think of honestly.

I worked at Houston's Restaurant part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Non. Run as far away from this place. Do not take any job offer. Besides money sucks! This is the lowest serving tip restaurant I've ever worked at

    Cons

This place was the worst place I've ever been at server at. I was there for less than a year and was prescribed anti-anxiety meds for how much it put me through. Management will never have anything nice to say EVER! But they will sure point out all the bad stuff. It's a disgusting work environment. They also take advantage and will rarely honor any schedule agreements you would make with them (since you can't request days off)

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. Negative criticism has never worked.

I worked at Houston's Restaurant part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They hire great people to work for them so I loved my co workers. Money is okay, but not enough for the stress.

    Cons

Management is neurotic. Micromanagement is crippling to the staff. They are disrespectful and could care less if you are hurt or sick. "Oh you have strep? Can't move from your bed? Well you better have a doctor's note or reconsider working here!" Like I prayed for management everyday before my shifts because they are seriously troubled individuals. No heart. No soul. No regard for humanity. If you like being over worked, screamed at, dehumanized, and waking up questioning what life is truly about WORK HERE.

    Advice to Management

    Get help :)

    Pros

Great, fresh high quality food. Restaurant was busy almost every day and night. Learned a few good server qualities.

    Cons

Everything you do is negatively picked apart. Spent more time doing side work than actually working. Never made enough money to justify putting up with all ridicule.

    Advice to Management

If you want servers to ask questions, don't treat us like idiots when we do. Maybe throw in a few compliments or words of encouragement to help off set all the insults

    Pros

Money was excellent. Expect at least ~$500 weeks working 4-5 shifts (Fri & Sat nights, included of course). Pretty helpful and teamwork-oriented serving staff. Hostesses are pretty quick to help, also. Training is highly informative.

    Cons

Serious micromanagement. To the point of inefficacy. How are you going to push server communication while accusing them of "chit-chat" at a distance? Management is also somewhat pretentious and fond of the proverbial bullwhip, expecting servers way above the price point of the menu. Quick to punish before offering a chance at improvement. Rigid. Long hours for the type of work.

    Advice to Management

Ease off the micromanagement. Offer advice and chances to improve, instead of laying on barrages of infallible critiques. Perhaps then the turnover rates wouldn't be so atrocious.

I have been working at Houston's Restaurant full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The money is really good. The hours I work are really nice, im able to have a somewhat normal life.

    Cons

The are very militaristic. Nothing is ever good enough, even if it's your very best.

    Pros

The place is always busy, and the food is consistently amazing. Health insurance is available and great (though very expensive).

    Cons

Always understaffed, which makes getting time off very difficult; high-stress environment; one corporate guest complaint or internet review - termination. Serious micromanagement issues

    Advice to Management

Positive reinforcement works better than negative, and would increase employee loyalty and flexibility. No one wants to help the house and pick up a shift from a manager who only criticizes.

    Pros

    Money.

Co-workers are easy to get along with.

    Cons

All of the managers are difficult to deal with; avoid all if possible.

    Advice to Management

Screaming at employees is not professional in any way.
