I have been working at Houston's Restaurant part-time

    Pros

    Fun and insightful managers
    Team oriented
    Learned many new skills

    Cons

    The training process is rigorous
Impossible to get the biggest server sections because of people who have been working there for years
Certain side-works at the end of the night can keep you there for hours after the restaurant closes

    I worked at Houston's Restaurant part-time

    Pros

This location can be busy at times. Good tips sometimes. Mix of clientele though, which can either help you or hinder you.

    Looks good on a resumé.

If you're looking for a set schedule, this will give you that.

    Cons

Management spent more time telling us what's wrong with us than trying to help situations that we were in. They seemed to relish in it.

The environment is so toxic. You would often come in dreading seeing how management chooses to treat you that day. Passive aggression is a staple there. Often managers had favorite people they liked to bully or pick on. They hold grudges for inane things. They manipulate you to think they're your friend only to turn around and use it against you.

Never once had I (or any coworkers that I knew of) been given a positive bit of feedback (i.e. Good job today!)

Rules constantly seemed to change regarding what we could or couldn't do for a guest. Even if I was able to do something for a guest one day, if a different manager told me no, then back I'd go to tell them no. There was no consensus.

Getting shifts covered was ridiculous. You basically had to sell your soul to get one day off.

Micromanagement is the name of the game here.

Turnover for servers is pretty high here.

    Advice to Management

Positive reinforcement would do absolute wonders for this establishment.
Making a concentrated effort to give good energy would in turn create good energy from the team.

Communication between managers is obviously lacking.

Amazing staff that will be like family to you. Great training process and one of the best places to work as far as income!

    Cons

None I can think of honestly.

I worked at Houston's Restaurant part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Non. Run as far away from this place. Do not take any job offer. Besides money sucks! This is the lowest serving tip restaurant I've ever worked at

    Cons

This place was the worst place I've ever been at server at. I was there for less than a year and was prescribed anti-anxiety meds for how much it put me through. Management will never have anything nice to say EVER! But they will sure point out all the bad stuff. It's a disgusting work environment. They also take advantage and will rarely honor any schedule agreements you would make with them (since you can't request days off)

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. Negative criticism has never worked.

I worked at Houston's Restaurant part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They hire great people to work for them so I loved my co workers. Money is okay, but not enough for the stress.

    Cons

Management is neurotic. Micromanagement is crippling to the staff. They are disrespectful and could care less if you are hurt or sick. "Oh you have strep? Can't move from your bed? Well you better have a doctor's note or reconsider working here!" Like I prayed for management everyday before my shifts because they are seriously troubled individuals. No heart. No soul. No regard for humanity. If you like being over worked, screamed at, dehumanized, and waking up questioning what life is truly about WORK HERE.

    I worked at Houston's Restaurant full-time

    Pros

Great money, nice coworkers and guests.

    Cons

They require you to purchase expensive Brooks Brothers shirts and your apron at your own expense. This is the type of place where there is a strict rule for ~everything~ from how you smile to specific methods of carrying cups. (3 per hand regardless of how small your hands are or whether your other hand is totally empty.)
