Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

    Pros

My first month at Houzz has been the best onboarding for a job that I've ever expirienced. Each and every employee that I have come across has gone above and beyond to make sure I am ready to go. With daily/weekly contests and daily huddles, each day feels like a new an exciting game to take on.

    Cons

Everything was super organized, well planned out and any help that you could ever need is readily available. I have no real cons in my first month.

    Wonderful Company

    Pros

I have worked for Houzz in the SDR position for 8 months now. It has honestly been the best company I have ever worked for. It has a very fun, upbeat environment. It is also the first company I've worked for that I have felt genuinely cared about their employees, and makes the effort to let us know. The management will do everything in their power to help you succeed while offering fun contests, early leave for great performance, and wonderful events. The company also makes a point to encourage work life balance, as well as hosting events to help us with physical and mental health. Listed below are some of my pros for working here, I have no cons and would highly recommend if you are a hard worker who wants a company that they can grow with. * Amazing culture * Great benefits * Room to grow * Wonderful management * Good work-life balance

    Cons

Currently there is no cons for me

    Great company!

Oct 24, 2022 - Sales Development Representative (SDR)

    Pros

-remote work, awesome schedule (6:30a-3p PST, no weekends, no holidays), promotion of remote culture to aid in connectedness of team -management is very helpful and communicative, constant coaching and feedback on how we can improve -fun workplace events (free!) You have to work hard to play hard in this role. It is definitely not for everyone. I would recommend previous sales or hospitality experience. If you take feedback well and are able to apply it to your work and effort, you will do very well in this role. It is only for 1 year, and is a great way to prepare for the Account Executive role by learning the nitty gritty.

    Cons

Some lead sources aren't the greatest. It is expected in cold calling to get hostile people who don't want to talk to you, so you need a strong back bone to not take things personally/let one bad call affect your performance for the day. Hourly pay is very low. Your money really depends on your bonus earnings.

    Pros

Houzz does such a great job creating a fun and healthy culture even though we are all fully remote. The managers are great and I love all my coworkers. I have nothing but great things to say about Houzz and this SDR program. Houzz is very transparent with everything, including the promotional ladder. As long as you work for them they will work for you. Being able to promote within the company is a huge perk. The perks of this job are huge too, in terms of holidays gifts and competition prizes. They really care about our work life balance. They also allow you to travel where ever and whenever, as long as you're grinding, they will let you.

    Cons

There is no option to go into an office. However, there are quarterly in person events which is huge. Nice meeting people from the company in person. The base pay is not great, but if you work hard you can make up for the in commission, which is uncapped.

    Pros

Working at Houzz has been an incredible experience so far. The managers along with the employees are awesome people. I have learned so much in just a short amount of time that has made me a better employee. All the managers take the time to really focus on each employee to enhance their performances.

    Cons

To me, there are no downsides working at Houzz. If you are particular with working earlier than your normal 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, then this might be a struggle for some. But overall I have absolutely no complaints about Houzz.

    Pros

I can go on and on about all the amazing reasons why working for this company has truly been a blessing. One of the reasons is although this job is entirely remote, this company does a great job at making sure all of my colleagues and I interact with one another to help us stay engaged and on task. Houzz's employees are always so kind and helpful. When I first started here, many of my co workers and managers were always there to help. Working at Houzz feels like a second home.

    Cons

The only cons I can think of is how I wish my out of state co workers and I can see each other more often. However, there aren't any cons about the company itself.

    Pros

Hours 8:30AM - 5PM CST. Do not have to work outside of those hours. Casual work environment so no need to dress up. Everyone was very nice. Perfect for someone who does not mind doing the same thing over and over again.

    Cons

To start you will spend most of the day calling 80+ people, most of which will not answer. You are still expected to meet your goals even though they give you terrible leads. Management could use some work. Would not recommend to anyone who comes from customer service or has that mentality.

The best company to work for

Apr 13, 2022 - Sales Development Representative in Irvine, CA

    Pros

The onboarding and training period was the best experience I've ever had with a company. I received all of my equipment before my start date. The initial training period is not long and drawn out. It's quick, precise and to the point. The trainers are really helpful in setting you up for your first day on the floor. The nice thing about Houzz is the training does not stop once you are out of the initial training class. When on the floor, you will still get refreshers and detailed training about once a week with the management team. Not to mention that the teams and managers are very helpful and just want to see you succeed. The camaraderie here is unmatched.

    Cons

I've been with the company for a month. I have no cons to add. I have never felt so certain that the people in this company are easy and positive people to work with.
