I worked at Howl at the Moon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed playing here. The team was amazing, and the atmosphere was always so alive. I will never forget my experience here as an employee.

    Cons

There really is not much to say. I am sad that the way way upper management couldn't make the marketing in NYC work. It could have been a stand out joint.

    Advice to Management

I would have suggested giving free drink tickets in Time Square. Figure out a way to get people in the doors in a New York city fashion. They NYC type tourism market is different than other city, like Orlando.

    Pros

Great and popular concept, fast paced and fun

    Cons

Small company translates into less ideal health insurance coverage and rates than larger companies are able to offer.

    Pros

Generally everyone is easy to work with, so many locations mobility is really available nationwide, lots of room for mobility for staff

    Cons

Poor training practices, terrible benefits package, very little transparency

    Advice to Management

Offer a health insurance plan that covers simple doctors visits.

I worked at Howl at the Moon full-time

    Pros

Good to Great Money; If you've been in the industry long you will LOVE the fact that you don't have to deal with any FOOD and therefore wont have to deal with or smell like it.

At the end of the day you work at a bar that has live music EVERY NIGHT. For the most part, pretty fun place to work with.

Only open Wed-Sat so no work on Sundays!!

    Cons

Upper Management is taught from CORPORATE to care more about numbers than people and therefore managers act accordingly.

You will be a zombie/vampire. You would be working at a BAR (as opposed to restaurant) and you will working BAR hours (My shift was from 4 PM till about 3 AM....to do it all over again the next day.)

Only open Wed-Sat, depending on your expenses, this may/may not be goof.

    Advice to Management

Remember who is in the "dirt" bringing the customers and MONEY to your bars.

I worked at Howl at the Moon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Incredibly fun work environment, great peers and delicious drinks. By far, the easiest job I've ever had, took me one shift to train. Also, the managers were laid back about calling in, they didn't become angry or demand that you find someone to cover your shift.

    Cons

Really long shifts, the managers don't cut servers on the floor. Everyone is on, no matter how slow it is. Some nights, I'd go home with 30 dollars after working 5 hours when there were wasn't a need to have all of our staffed servers on that night.

    Advice to Management

Cut servers by order of arrival. I know you'd rather be over staffed, but having 4 servers sitting around for 3 hours is counter productive. Take care of your employees by allowing them the opportunity to actually make some money.

I worked at Howl at the Moon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Staff is fun to work with, very positive atmosphere, and easy work nights. Good potential to move up, as door host job makes little pay.

    Cons

Corporate management is constantly changing protocol, shifts get swapped regularly, and fights happen nearly every night.

I worked at Howl at the Moon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's was such a fun work environment. I look back and miss the night's at Howl hearing the band play and joking with customers.

    Cons

Very late hours. You're up until at least 4 am because the club is shut down at 2. Clean up takes until 3 and then by the time you get to wind down and go to sleep it's at least 4 sometimes later.

    Advice to Management

The private event buy outs need to have better pay for the servers. Around holidays we had so many buyouts that were open bar so no one tipped the servers and we got paid next to nothing for working the event. Just what I need around Christmas time.
