I worked at Hudson City Bancorp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I loved my job and enjoyed the people I worked with. We worked well together and I would still be there, if the bank hadn't merged with M&T.

    Cons

Close to 400 people lost their jobs on account of the merger with M&T Bank.

    Advice to Management

I enjoyed my last supervisor and department head. I only wish something could have been done to save more of our jobs. However, that decision was out of their control as well.

    Cons

Salary not commensurate with years of service or experience. not competitive with other banks in the area

    Advice to Management

Reward long time employees who consistently do a great job rather than hiring new college graduates with no experience and no long term plans in staying with you

    Pros

Great company to work for. Great boss and coworkers. The work was sometimes hard but rewarding, when at the end of the day you know that you did the best that you can do to get your job done. We all worked as a team and if anyone needed help we would all be there to support each other.

    Cons

The only con that I can think of is that the company had merger with another bank and we all had to lose our jobs.

    Advice to Management

I feel that I brings great skills and knowledge that I have learned over the past 20 years in Accounts Payable and would brings those skills with me into my next project or position.
