    Pros

There were no pros to Hudson County Community College.

    Cons

HCCC is a turnover factory that will bring your career in higher education to a grinding halt. The amount of yelling and bullying at this institution is off the charts. The senior leadership all dislike or distrust one another, and they expect you to obey every command without thinking (or giving feedback). Of course to make matters worse, their pay is absolutely horrible, so not only are you in a toxic work environment, but they're not even paying you enough to be tolerable. I would steer clear of this place unless your career is at a complete dead end and you have little to risk. But don't for a second think you can parlay this job into something better because you'll be churned long before that happens. And to make matters worse, they are experiencing a severe enrollment crisis. The president put out an email saying that things are getting worse and won't be getting better. They then laid off and fired over 30 people. The trend line doesn't look good.

    Advice to Management

Look, the only reason the president is still around is because no one else will hire him. He's been a publicly announced finalist at least a half dozen times (and probably a finalist for another dozen position privately) and NO ONE will take him off Hudson's hands. He runs the place like anyone that's stayed a place too long, and the culture of pettiness, bullying and dysfunction can all be traced back to his office. So with that said, my advice to management is to retire. Besides, it's been time for you to go, right? Let go of the intoxication of the office and let Hudson move into a new era, please.
