I have been working at Hudson's Bay Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Decent pay, happy and friendly work environment where management encourages you have an entrepreneurial spirit, company truly allows you to go above and beyond for your clients and forge client relationships.

    Cons

Work long hours and sometimes 6-7 days at a time. Benefits are terrible. High pressure to make unrealistic sales and credit card goals. Discount is only given on certain brands and you are forced to open a credit card in order to take advantage of employee discount... which feels very predatory. You are also then forced to pay interest on your employee purchases.

I have been working at Hudson's Bay Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Paid holidays, early out day before holiday weekend -Decent work/life balance

    Cons

-discount requires obtaining multiple company credit cards (one for each banner), but lowering employee discount barely outweighs the interest that would accrue on said credit cards -low pay -expensive health care -little opportunity for movement/advancement -LOTS large rounds of layoffs, with no plans on how to handle processes managed by those laid off -poor communication across locations -managers with teams in various locations don't even visit the locations and teams they manage -pretend to care about employee development, but the "classes" offered and the quarterly reviews don't actually result in any true development opportunities

"Ok for part time student - not as career. A 2.5/5"

I have been working at Hudson's Bay Company part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good co-workers. Some good managers. twice a year certain brands (mostly cosmetics) at 20 percent discount for associates. Got reward points for signing up customers to the HBC credit card - these points can add up if you are good at getting customers to sign up. These points can only be used at the bay. Full timers get decent benefits (dental/health etc). Flexible scheduling if student. But not enough hours available to part timers. Once schedule is set may be hard to get someone to cover.

    Cons

10 percent year round discount - need to have the HBC credit card to get the employee discount or NO discount given (discount taken off on HBC credit card statement). Low wages - many times at min wage regardless of education. Some employees get hired with higher wages than those who have been with company for years. Pushed to get good credit blends, get customers to sign up for credit cards, and recently get customers to do auto locates and give their emails. Yearly raises based on reaching targets (sometimes only 10 cent raises - from what I have heard). Not enough employees on the floor. Sometimes just one person to cover one department. Some managers can be rude - have power trips - and see associates as expendable. But some managers ARE good to their employees. Just based on luck with who you end up with. Managers have a lot of stress put on them for scheduling and getting their associates to meet targets.

I worked at Hudson's Bay Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Insurance, free stuff from the cosmetics company not even the Bay

    Cons

When I was first hired everything was great, and then a year in HBC started feeling some sort of bankruptcy so everything changed. Management became unmanageably annoying, they think we're robots. All we hear about is "why didn't you open a credit card last month" or when will you. They HARASS us with credit openings for us to harass customers. The pay is low just because I have commission. God forbid they raise more than 10 cents per hour for one of their top sales on the floor. A lot of useless stress. Cut out thee full time position. System changed and company claims that they overpaid employees and asked for their money back.

    Pros

Enjoyed the cafeteria. Some days offered free breakfast! The other staff were generally pleasant.

    Cons

A few nice customers, yet there were plenty that were just downright rude. Benefits weren't that great. ie. Had to apply for a credit card to get the discounts, which was a lengthy process.
