Top notch culture, people & work

    Pros

The focus on doing truly great work here is for real. I'm constantly impressed by the talent, commitment and brains of everyone I work with. The results are in the work and we've got some pretty amazing case studies for some of the best clients out there to prove it. Also: epic culture, great sense of humor, actual work life balance and decent pay. I'm a fan of what we've got going on here. And we're not even at the top of our game yet.

    Cons

Process is a bit screwy at times, but show me a place where that's not the case.

Top agency ready for a turnaround

    Pros

Great place to learn a lot, quickly. People are smart and willing to help if you ask. Huge is unlike any other agency at which I've worked in that we definitely try to approach work strategically and from a user perspective and ambitiously take-on the latest and greatest in tech & design. Work/life balance is generally good. Vibe is improving after senior leadership turmoil over the past year.

    Cons

There isn't a clear professional development track here - you have to be a hand-raiser to get good work and prove your worth. There's sometimes a tension between client services and other disciplines - client services can commit the team to working inefficiently by delivering unnecessary work.

    Senior leadership

    Pros

Great culture, feels like a standalone agency and not a satellite. Management invests in office space, food and other perks. General vibe is a work/life balance despite major clients. Talented business strategy, analytics, research, UX and creative teams. Opportunity to do great work.

    Cons

Management doesn't empower senior team leaders to bring their expertise to the table. Decisions are made behind closed doors with a juvenile attitude, preventing the agency from learning from its mistakes. Promises are made to senior hires that are not kept. Vision is great, delivery is not. And at the price clients are paying, they often choose to not return.

In Need of a Major Course Correction

Apr 9, 2018 - Anonymous Employee in Brooklyn, NY

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Exceedingly smart employees/colleagues at Director-level and below On-the-ground workers are genuinely kind, collaborative, and helpful. Many opportunities to learn from and work with smart and effective co-workers across disciplines. Office space is comfortable with good snacks and some catered/free lunch opportunities. Work-life balance is solid compared to some agencies, but this may depend on your role/supervisor/project.

    Cons

Management has been BAD. Very little transparency or cohesion and seemingly no overarching mission or clear route to success (worth noting that this may change, given the exodus of prior CEO, President, and others). Huge has strayed from its core competency — at which it was truly one of the best in the world — of amazing experience design, to wade into a bunch of other channels and disciplines. It seems to have really hamstrung the agency by bleeding it dry of its creative talent while wasting money and attention on aspects of the business that should have remained exploratory, tertiary, or non-existent. LOTS of turnover. Many of the agency's top performers have left on their own accord, with major layoffs thinning out some high-quality staff as well. Huge is trying to replace these teams with freelancers or outsourcing...which is going about as well as you might expect.

    Not all bad but mostly

    Pros

Amazing work and clients. Really, really talented people to learn from. Some of the best, for now. There are nice perks like lunches and happy hours quite often. If you buckle down and stick it out, great things can come of it. Great for your portfolio and CV.

    Cons

Work/life balance is very low and stars to take its toll early. You arent required to work 60 hour weeks like I did but culturally, there is a certain unspoken understanding to do so most of the time. Upper management has little to no idea what they are doing or how to do it. The place seems to be run by children for the most part. As far as bonuses go, you will likely never get anything unless you are one of the "elites," another problem within the culture of huge. Everyone is not created and treated equally. You are either a golden child or you are just another body for the bidding.

A company in rapid decline... very sad.

Jan 19, 2018 - Anonymous Employee in Brooklyn, NY

    Pros

Some very smart and talented people, especially at the junior and mid-level, though most of those people are leaving in droves. Dog friendly offices, amazing employer branding, though it's mostly a facade. Work life balance for some is great, others not so much. Really varies by team/department. Historically a strong agency, but that is swiftly changing.

    Cons

Huge is an operational disaster. Executive team are all incredibly immature and have no idea how to run a global business. They've formed an impenetrable clique of the old guard and bully the rest of the agency, including the executive talent they hire and fire at a whim. Egos are out of control and leadership don't acknowledge their faults. Nothing this company does is proactive or strategic, everything is reactionary and haphazard, including laying off Huge swaths of the workforce and closing offices frequently, only to realize they don't have the talent to deliver work the next week. The one thing they are good at is minimizing media attention to these layoffs, though in truth the company lost about 1/3 of its workforce in 2017 alone. The work is suffering massively. It's all about $ at this point, so the company will take on tons of boring accounts just to keep the lights on. Huge fumbles on delivery frequently and many clients are pulling their business altogether from the agency.

    Heading for the Door!!!!!!

    Jan 31, 2018 - Anonymous Employee

    Business Outlook

    Pros

-Good medical benefits -Nice offices -Summer Fridays -Free snacks & company swag -Decent pay -Dog Friendly -Casual Work Environment

    Cons

My first con is the PEOPLE! While there are many talented individuals here, majority of them are over privileged jerks! With all the free perks, you would think people would be grateful & happy, but they find every reason to complain, and forget that this is your place of work, not your home! People will be miserable and complain, because they don't like the color of a rug or the FREE brand of crackers that is supplied. The unnecessary negativity, can truly make you dread coming into the office. A lot of the senior leadership are either pre-maturely promoted into their roles, or focus less on their department and tasks, and more on frivolous matters that don't concern them. I would agree that the managers are the worst people in the office, whose behaviors only influence and encourage poor behaviors/attitudes from other staff members. It's terrible working for such an amazing company and hating having to come to work everyday, all because of the people you work with. If I could take a remote position, I absolutely would. That brings me to my next point... the work/life balance. This is touched on & highlighted so much, but truth be told, the only people who truly benefit from this, are senior staff. Some positions, aren't even allowed to take advantage of the work-from-home policy. This is said to be a family friendly company, but it is often forgotten that people do have children and families, that they have to tend to! In addition, there is poor communication across the board. I was so excited when I started with this company & now I cannot wait to make my exit! It is absolutely draining, being this unhappy at a place you spend so much of your time.
