I have been working at Hughes Network Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most employees share an office with another so there is some level of privacy at Hughes, not like startup employees sitting in cubicles back to back; benefits are fair; work environment is extremely diverse and coworkers are helpful in general.

    Cons

It is a big corporation so there is a complex department structure and sometimes it can be hard to get things done.

I worked at Hughes Network Systems full-time

    Pros

The company it tied closely to their core product line of satellite internet services for consumers. Don't expect too much to change from year to year.

    Cons

Top down, authoritative organization. Lots of entrenched, 25- years plus employees.

I have been working at Hughes Network Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Positive minded and pragmatics employees. Young employees are allowed to start working on projects early in their careers. The company has employee loyalty and encourages hiring and promotion from within. Solid work/life balance with flexible hours and understanding management.

    Cons

It is owned by EchoStar, which has repeated cut benefits including vacation time and health care benefits. Hughes' loyalty to its employees lead to a stagnant reporting structure that does not allow for rapid career advancement. Pay scale is slightly below the D.C. Metropolitan average.

    Advice to Management

Bring back the old Hughes with loyalty to employees AND benefits that encourage employee loyalty.

I worked at Hughes Network Systems as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a well structured internship program. My manager was relaxed but effective, and my supervisor was very knowledgable and gave constructive criticism and helped much.

    Cons

The office is pretty old and crowded. There is no unique culture to the company, but at the same time, there was nothing bad about it either.

    Advice to Management

The company should be modernized and be given a new appeal. The company should act like a modern tech place.

I worked at Hughes Network Systems as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

My team did not put too much workload on me. They were helpful to me whenever I needed any help. Good office desk for Interns..!!

    Cons

Sometimes you have to wait for work to be given because your senior might get stuck with some other important work.

    Advice to Management

Hiring buddy should be someone who should have time to explain Interns whenever they are stuck..!! Some of the hiring buddies keep themselves too busy with their own work. But still it was a good learning experience. You will learn a lot from here..!!
