I worked at Hugo Boss full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great environment for those who are self-starters, great attitude and a thick skin.

-Acceptable pay (for a commission-based jobs of its caliber)

-Fantastic opportunity to meet relatively high-profile clientele

-Excellent proving ground for those seeking to sharpen their sales skills.

    -Talented colleagues to learn from

    Cons

-Issues between coworkers are basically left to them; no HR to settle disputes (as its a franchised Hugo Boss, and not a corporate store.)

-Not a good environment for someone who doesn't have a lot of initiative/needs prompting.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to be directly engaging with employees, and show (or at least pretend) like you care about their welfare, rather than just the bottom-line.

I worked at Hugo Boss full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Globally recognizable brand, generous employee discount. The benefit package is actually very good.

    Cons

The overall commission plan is inadequate for global company; they want luxury client experience for their clients but are not willing to compensate experience clothing consultants. Poor management; oftentimes management staff lacks the experience for high-end luxury, and they don’t have men’s clothing expertise.

    Advice to Management

More transparency about the direction of the company. Place qualify individuals all levels of management; especially at the store level. There need more effective training for inexperience employees; including management.

    Pros

Brand recognition and generous employee discounts. That's about it

    Cons

Dysfunctional corporate management driven more by ego than logic, lack of support from store and corporate management, hostile work environment, very low employee morale

    Advice to Management

Scrap everyone and start from scratch

I have been working at Hugo Boss full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not much corporate over sight for GM's. You are expected to run the business as its your own in all facets. Corporate empowers you to do so. Excellent upper level management, these people are highly qualified for the positions they hold. Your uniforms are FREE and issued every 6 months. Dry cleaning is covered by the company as well. Very generous employee discount.

    Cons

In my pros section I said there isn't much corporate oversight. The double edged sword to that is if your not in NYC you don't get much support. I don't see much room for promotions. GM's report directly to regional managers because the company eliminated area manager roles for the most part.

    Advice to Management

To many conference calls, online trainings, and webinars. We appreciate having these tools to train our teams. However, the informal nature of this sort of training delegitimizes it's importance I the sales staff. Good information but the wrong vessel to deliver it in my opinion. To each his own but I'm more hands on.

I worked at Hugo Boss full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company. One of the leaders in men's luxury fashion. Corporate was most helpful and worked closely with all teams. Best job I have had since being out of the military. Only job that worked with my well with my VA appointments. Many promotions available. Big on promoting from within and continuing to promote afterwards.

    Cons

Working within a lease space can be challenging due to working with department store associates who are by far the most greedy of salesman and woman. But Hugo Boss is a great company.

    Advice to Management

Be watchful of the sales associates of the department store. But partner with those to keep the business growing. You will succeed if you show corporate you are a successful business.

I worked at Hugo Boss full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Nice people, really good benefits that start quickly . Very fun employees . Always pay on time. Not the worst position , but straight sales is better

    Cons

Commission against salary , but you are too busy doing little stuff to sell. Plus you are not paid overtime when you do inventory which is like 2 shifts.

    Advice to Management

    Share responsibilities more fairly

I have been working at Hugo Boss full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people, the product and the employee discount are all great! Great employee benefits and company provides employee uniforms. You get more freedom here than most brands.

    Cons

The compensation for the amount of work done is not sufficient, commission structure for sales associates leads to high turnover and lack of support from corporate is common.

    Advice to Management

Hire leaders who can motivate employees and managers not intimidate them.
