I have been working at Humana full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team, great perks, competitive salary, really enjoying the company gym! The company has a great culture of wellness that it encourages.

    Cons

Big company so lots of red tape to accomplish stretch goals. Next steps to move up from your role can be unclear at times.

I worked at Humana full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of good people who work at Humana, and who work there to improve the health and well being of Humana's members. In general, the work environment is good and management is supportive of their workers. I worked there for 8 years and was able to work on some really exciting projects.

    Cons

Humana is a large company and has a pretty rigid organizational structure. Though it's great for people who like to work within a defined set of parameters and like to rely on somebody higher up the org chart to make decisions, it can feel a bit oppressive for those who like to execute on projects. I worked first on the IT side, and then as a strategic consultant on the business side defiining business strategy for potential enterprise projects.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately, this is the area that suffers most from inertia and dogma, where project decisions are based more upon technical architecture than business architecture. I would recommend that enterprise and domain architect teams be expanded to include representation from strategic and business consultants respectively who are empowered to ensure that technical solutions actually support business strategy and optimal business processes.

I worked at Humana full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    401 k is pretty awesome 125% of 6 % pay

    Cons

They lie. Their mantra is taking care of people, in a healthy environment. The company only projects the idea of well being on the website. Internally, my health suffered because of a workplace injury, and HR ignored me until I had to resign.

"Firing or Laying Off Americans to hire Eastern Indians"

I worked at Humana full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

None--everyone here is a ladder climber, and the company culture is terrible. Your Eastern Indian Boss pulls the whole team out of production to have a meeting to yell at them for two hours every other day about how they aren't making production. Puts everyone down on the team by calling them children, even the Marine who served in Iraq. When he stands up to the Eastern Indian boss to defend the team he gets fired. Oh, and the insane boss throws heavy metal objects like staplers, and tape dispensers at team members. Boss is not dealt with because boss is married to an upper eschelon manager at the main building in Louisville. This place is a joke.

    Cons

Read above--you will be so much healthier for LEAVING this environment. Stop what you are doing, they hire nut jobs, and just leave! Also, if you live in Louisville, you will see DROVES of Eastern Indians walking down the street to work there. Louisville is basically New Delhi now, because they are letting decent and hard working Veterans, and good Americans go, to replace them with foreigners, some of whom are absolutely insane.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employees like they are children. Vet every single person you hire with a GOOD quality mental examination. Stop playing favorites when two people are married and they work for the same company, or just because they know someone. Stop hiring loads of foreigners, and start retaining good and honest American workers. Actually listen to your employees
