      Horrible Company

      Pros

Learned a lot about how healthcare works. Met some good people.

      Cons

Humana is a very hard environment. I worked there full time for nearly 16 years before being laid off despite yearly reviews stating my job performance was full or exceptional. The company itself is poorly run, but your job satisfaction depends a lot on your immediate Supervisor or Manager. Over the years, I worked for several exceptional leaders and many who were lazy or just unqualified, but were in their role because they were personal friends with upper management. The company regularly tells you how lucky you are to work there while providing subpar employee health insurance, infrequent raises despite job performance, constant management changes, and constant changes to directives and initiatives. They think nothing of laying off long term employees of 10, 15, 20+ years if they can outsource your job or hire someone off the street with no experience for less money. In my experience, the company seems to care very little about the employees.

      Sales Roller Coaster Ride

      Pros

Ability to assist Medicare aged members/non members with enrollment into Health insurance options. Professional and friendly colleagues. Great Benefits

      Cons

Hard to have a simple empathetic needs conversation with potential members, without having the constant, never ending bombardment of management hearing and interrupting your calls constantly. Just a SALES, SALES SALES, type of environment where there is so much going on, and management neglects to connect with their team on a personal level to address common trends and learning curves. The product does well and basically sells itself, just more challenging when management up the chain of command appear to act as if we are in a USED CAR LOT.

Okay job if you don't need insurance

Feb 7, 2020 - Patient Care Coordinator in Cincinnati, OH

      Pros

Potential to work at home, a fair amount of time off, most leaders display high level of emotional intelligence. Great 401k-if you can afford to pay into it.

      Cons

Time off only during off peak season which can last 3-5 months. Terrible "error" merit system (you make a mistake and it stays on file 6 months-this should be shorter). The health insurance is the worst I've ever had in my life. I pay only a single digit percent toward 401k, next deduction is my health insurance, family, only high deductible plans available, after deductions, last year I averaged only SIXTY PERCENT of my take-home pay. An average of 40 percent went to taxes, insurance and my tiny 401k contribution. To top it off, I STILL had thousands of dollars in medical bills to pay. Company contributes SOME toward the HSA HOWEVER you have to jump though ENDLESS hoops using a ridiculous, non-functional and completely not IT supported app to track your physical activity and biometrics and there's A LOT they simply won't give you credit for. If the app messes up and doesn't credit you points for activities, they just shrug and say welp, sorry. You never can recover the lost points. Back to the job, the call center aspect is probably a slightly better atmosphere than many call centers and my department has few restrictions on call metrics so that helps with the stress level.

      Pros

Good benefits, nothing else good about it

      Cons

Everything else. If you are willing to sell your soul for a little more pto and good health insurance this may be the place for you. They literally violate labor laws. Additionally they will steal from your grandma to make a buck.
