    Pros

Good benefits especially PTO and retirement, job security, good cause, flexible hours, good salary for a nonprofit organization

    Cons

Cliquish, if you don't drink the kook-aid, it's hard to fit in; programs are sometimes led by assumptions and ideology of management, not knowledge and needs of beneficiaries

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Hunt Alternatives full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This review is for Inclusive Security, a program of Hunt Alternatives. The Inclusive Security team is made up of extremely hardworking individuals who care about advancing women's participation in peace and security processes, and who are genuinely pleasant to be around.

    Cons

The company is run unbelievably poorly - it has been rebranded countless times in the past few years, and frequently totally changes strategy (regardless if previous strategies were working) at the whim of the founder. In the past year there have been two rounds of major layoffs and it's unclear how much longer the company will be around.

    Advice to Management

Do not be so quick to throw out ideas and strategies when they do not immediately achieve your goals.

  3. "Major layoffs, toxic workplace"

    Pros

Prior to March 2017 layoffs, Inclusive Security was doing great work.

    Cons

In March 2017, the organization was significantly downsized due to board decisions about what work to prioritize. This included laying off 80% of Inclusive Security staff and many others within Hunt. Sadly, these transitions have not been handled well and the environment is very toxic. I would not recommend working here.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Hunt Alternatives part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Brilliant colleagues, mostly women, think tank atmosphere

    Cons

The think tank atmosphere often creates chaos in project management. They are working on it and have hired at least one amazing person to keep things moving.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Hunt Alternatives full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work-life balance. Most employees had the opportunity to work from home at least once a week, work demands notwithstanding. Overall very supportive of employees with families.

    Cons

Temporary agency contracted to recruit candidates for the position I held do not offer competitive wages or benefits (which is normal).
