Great family - Department culture varied
May 12, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The overall company and culture was wonderful. They were supportive and had a number of programs to help an employee grown and feel enriched. Good company values and open in most communications. Department culture varied. The overall company and culture was wonderful. They were supportive and had several programs to help an employee grown and feel enriched. Good company values and open in most compunctions. They only relaxed the dress code in 2019, but by relaxed, I mean “men didn’t have to wear a suite and tie every day.” The benefits package was generous. I’m learning how nice it was in comparison to other companies now. When they laid me off due to Covid in 2020, they were gracious and generous. The role I had kept changing every 2-3 years, which I enjoyed.
Cons
While the company policy stated one thing, many department heads did not allow employees to take advantage of some of the flex time options. It all depended on your manager. Many other elements of how you were treated depended on your manger. (Including one that denied remote work requested by a Chemo patient. ) Now that Covid has happened, the most ridged managers had to flex on remote work. The company only adopted Cloud technology in 2018. If you want casual work clothes, this is not the place for you. Jeans day was once a year. Again Covid has changed this, but not sure about when people go back to the building. The company has now retired or laid off most of its longest term employees. It used to be a company people stayed at for 10+ years. Not sure they intend to do this anymore. There started to be a shift into a different dynamic when the last rounds of lay-offs happened.
