    Pros

Great company, good people, and well located in Dallas area.

    Cons

Have to network to move up, hard work isn't noticed.

    Advice to Management

Don't put people in positions where they have no expertise, especially when managing others.

I worked at Hunt Oil Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work with smart driven people. Good benefits and opportunity for career development.

    Cons

Good ol' boy culture. Friends of the family are hired and promoted to positions they do not belong in. This creates a culture where the management is often incompetent and not held accountable.
As an engineer, I shouldn't need to wear a suit and tie. The culture is very old school.

I worked at Hunt Oil Company full-time

    Pros

Fairly stable, plenty of smart people in the building

    Cons

Political, always changing management, a lot of people care about promotions more than their job itself,

    Advice to Management

Put the right people in the right positions based on skills instead of tenure.

I worked at Hunt Oil Company full-time

    Pros

Job security even during the oil and gas industry downturn.

    Cons

No opportunity for professional growth or advancement - even more so for females. Locked down per say in same position from start of hire until retirement.

    Advice to Management

Remove the middle managers and allow the loyal, hard working, and proven employees opportunity for professional growth.

    Pros

Everyone is very nice to work with, including the Hunt family.

    Cons

Very old school work style. Suit and tie every day. They're not open to any kind of change or new, better way of doing things.

    Advice to Management

Support and encourage new, more efficient ways of doing things.

I worked at Hunt Oil Company (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Numerous employee benefits & employee programs (eg, a monthly book club where a professional speaker and your lunch is provided), a pension, new building, Wolfgang Puck cafe on-site, wonderful people & culture and good management with deep pockets and is diversified so they should be in business for another 80 years.

    Cons

Most employees are very helpful; however, you may run into some who make getting your job done more difficult. Also, managers receive very little manager training so your manager experience varies greatly (ie, there are awesome, average and bad bosses).

    Pros

Great benefits and working environment, respect for the individual.
    Great location, beautiful building.

    Cons

Small private company with the bureaucracy of a large company.
Only provides basic financial information to employees.
Current outlook is negative as the O&G market is down and a there's a lot of uncertainty for the short/mid-term future.
Career mobility depends a lot on the department you work for or who you know.

    Advice to Management

The lack of transparency only generates uncertainty amongst employees. Informed employees make better decisions.
