I worked at Hunter EMS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The uniforms are free .... kinda

    Cons

Supervisors and higher ups talk to you like you are their child, they are very disrespectful, they state you can’t eat from 2-7 on schedule calls but even when asking to get something to eat or even just some water it’s still a problem. Dispatch speak to the EMTs and Medics like crazy. There’s no raises.... they watch the cameras in the trucks all day every day listening to your conversations with your partner although it’s suppose to be there if you get into accidents. If you get off at 7 and it isn’t busy they will still hold you back and give you a call that schedule for 9pm but will let an 9pm crew leave at 8pm. The trucks are horrible if you not in a sprinter then just know you going to be having problems with your truck. Down to the breaks up to the lights sirens etc esp AC! Again they don’t care about their employees. If you get sick on the road or if you have an emergency where you have to leave... you won’t be leaving they don’t care. They don’t follow their own handbook that they use to give out. The supervisor have their own rules then higher up have another set of their own rules and if there’s a new rule no one bothers to give the employees a heads up but will just write you up for it. No brace period. One min late your late and you will get written up. You have on supervisor who only hires who she think is cute. You have people there that’s been there for 3/4 years getting 16 an hour no raise where brand new EMTs coming in to 17.50. The place is a hot mess and the owner needs to really fix his higher up staff because there’s a lot of illegal stuff they doing to their employees which isn’t right. You pay for a union who does nothing for you .

I worked at Hunter EMS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You can knock 12 hr in 3 days with a ton of over time.

    Cons

Very high turnover, because of working conditions and treatment by management. Constant breakdown of equipment without any help of anyone repairing it. Pressure to change PCR to make unnecessary transports necessary. Absolute disrespect. Being spoken to as less than. Being pushed to be out on the road without trucks being 100% compliant. If you are a woman be extremely cautious. Male supervisors acting a little too friendly. You will be kept hours over your time even if you have to come in the next morning. Not even 4 hours in between. Orientation is a joke, training is 2 days. Had to fight for a new N95 after having one for month and change. Wound up using connections to get my own. I literally can go on..

I have been working at Hunter EMS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Like any private ambulance company they have an extremely high employee turnover rate, for any EMT straight out of the class who want to work this is an easy job to get since they will call you in less than an hour after applying... you could also just call them and they will do it for you but that’s really it everything else about this place is down hill and you can just read my cons all the way

    Cons

Huntersuck If you see anything over a 1 star it’s a fake review. Don’t join hunter unless you are desperate and want a job straight out of EMT class.. if so work here for 3 months and leave, this place is trash it is the laughing stock of EMS . They hire anyone even people who don’t have EMT cards which is illegal. Management is group of people who don’t care about employees. Orientation is a load of bs watered down crap where they emphasize on eating like a pig because thats what real ems is like and when you do your rotation the uniforms are unprofessional and make you look homeless Shifts are extremely long and no breaks given and if you ask to get food you get written up. 85% of the employees shouldn’t be working they are either suspended for injuring people or getting into accidents and don’t know how to actually be EMTS and most think they know everything but haven’t worked an actual ems call in their life The equipment as in ambulances, stretchers, and so forth are all hamidowns that are either broken or held together by tape and don’t even work most of the time and if they do work you probably end up hurting yourself using it. if you ask for them to get fixed they laugh at you and say welcome to hunter Scheduling is a pain because the person who does it will change it last minute And won’t inform you or worse take you off the schedule for a month and give your shifts away and blames you for the mistake or worse you come into work and you have no partner and they force you to clean for the whole shift They advertise competitive pay at $16 starting but that’s a lie... you start with a salary of 14.75 and after 6 months you get a raise to 15 and after two years or if they like you you get 16 but they just changed it that’s only full time workers get 16 and if your lucky you may make 20 and they put you as a medic when you are still and emtB They use their own version of ePCRs which sucks And crashes all the time and if you do a paper pcr or an rMA you get written up Management will not inform you about anything or their changes and their protocols on how things are done is backwards And last dispatch is not dispatch but a bunch of nonmedically trained people telling you things which they don’t know what they are talking about Ex of a day I worked. 13 hour shift worked with this big doof who think hes an EMS god, talks down to any ems agency and tells them they have it lucky.we get a dispatch for a RR to a nursing home once we get there my partner starts yelling at the patient because she can’t move. I ended up call 911 because this is how most of hunter operates This place is bad news... if you want to work here be careful p.s there is one supervisor who shouldn’t even be allowed in hospitals or even in an ambulance but he still works there and it just adds more to why hunter is a terrible place to work at
