I worked at Hunter Laboratories as an intern

    Pros

As a high school student, I learned a lot about analyzing data and providing reports on this data.

    Cons

    Not a lot of mentorship

    Pros

The best reason to work at Hunter would have to the people that share the duties of the laboratory together. All technitians were always available for consultation regarding policies and proceedures.

    Cons

There were many times when the management wanted proceedures and performance beyond the capabilities of the Lab.

    Pros

Very Helpful and clean environment. Taught me a lot about how a clinical lab works.

    Cons

Did not really help me with how to structure my time or how to structure my project. Kind of let me do my own thing which did not really lead to many results

I worked at Hunter Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The lab is very small compared to other high volume labs, but since there are not a lot of people, I was able to learn a lot about the lab environment and worked independently.

    Cons

Upper management didn't truly understand the workflow sometimes. I wish they were more involved with the people actually in the lab and not just the managers. Also no 401k.

    Advice to Management

They need to be more involved with the actual lab to understand workflow better.

I have been working at Hunter Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great client services, loyal sales reps, convenient and no wait for blood draw AND fast turn around time
We meet the needs of all clients, never missing a phone call or opportunity to speak with them.

    Cons

The company has big competitors who are national but our service is much more efficient and better quality. I wish there were more patient service center locations.

    Pros

The best reasons are: The freedom to be creative and insure quality care to all patients that come to Hunter. The employees have direct access to the CEO Chris Reidel and the President Marcia Reidel who listen and respond quickly to create a very supportive work place.

    Cons

Just as there are problems in every company, I would have to say a downside to working at Hunter would be: The need for a bigger building.

    Advice to Management

Always be involved in the decisions that are made on your behalf. These decisions good or bad will directly reflect on you.

    Pros

    a mediocore paycheck, a job

    Cons

When you enter the company, since it is family owned, you have a sense that you have direct contact with senior management. But as time passes, the only contact you have is a high level of micromangement. Therefore, more time is spent finger pointing than actually resolving issues to make the company run smoother.
    Other issues:
needs to spend money on the IT department (very old computer system)
    high employee turnover
no true training program in place
    poor management
    poor benefit package (No 401K)

    Advice to Management

have a training program all departments in the company, stop the micro- management
