I worked at Huntington Hospital (NY) part-time

    Pros

Great pay and good benefits (never received the latter)

    Cons

Talent acquisition for this organization is very disorganized. Hospital management can accurately be described as the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. I was fired after about a month of working there because I missed a day of work (on doctor's orders) due to enduring a car accident after leaving the premises at the time end of my shift. Very unsympathetic to employees and poor attention to detail.

    Advice to Management

    Lack of empathy breeds contempt!

I worked at Huntington Hospital (NY) full-time

    Pros

Terrific staff -- truly some of the best people I've ever known.
HH treats travelers as if you are family, which made me apply to become part of its family.
Benefits are some of the best I've had as a nurse, ever.
The nurses have their own hospital-based union.
Community hospital with a personal feel for both patients and staff.

    Cons

Talent Acquisition could be a bit more organized. There were telephone quotes regarding salary that didn't quite match what was on paper.

    Advice to Management

Stay kind to your staff -- it is because of their kindness to me that I had what was one of the best employment experiences of my career.

    Pros

The ppl I work with are awesome. They truly believe in teamwork.

    Cons

Many times, they're short staffed which means you'll be working nonstop till the end of your shift.

I have been working at Huntington Hospital (NY) (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice small, community hospital. Staff are friendly in the fiscal department and work well as a team. Flexible hours

    Cons

Limited growth opportunities because of the size. Limited staff means people need to be flexible to other jobs not specifically in your job title.
