I worked at Huntington National Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is very comparable with industry average. Decent benefits (prescription coverage is great). PTO is very good as well.

    Cons

Coming from the FirstMerit merger, things went downhill fast. Branches are staffed with the absolute bare-minimum in staffing. Managers are asked to run teller drawers every day and have very higher business banking goals. Business Bankers only handle deals over $300,000 but managers cannot facilitate deals over $100,000 so lots of work never gets done. The company claims there are plenty of advancement opportunities, but will never actually follow through on openings. The few openings that did come up were given to select employees without interviewing all candidates. When employees leave, management's response is never to try and keep anyone, but to hire brand new people with little experience at the lowest possible base salaries. The difference in pay is all over the board, with many BMs making $53,000/year and others making $80,000/year in similar markets, with less experience. Zero support from senior management, who will take zero effort to thank you for your efforts or get to know you at all. You are literally a number who Huntington feels can be "easily replaced".

    Advice to Management

Everyone is stretched way too thin. Issues are never addressed by senior management, who spends all their time being robotic and never engaging their workforce. Questions from BMs are either never answered, or receive generic answers in several days. Don't be surprised when more and more employees leave for other opportunities because it is obvious that employee retention is of no concern.

I worked at Huntington National Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good Pay and the customers and co workers were nice to work with but every one was a little crabby all the time because of the stress

    Cons

Micromanagement, no support, short staffing, high pressure sales, constant stress and can't get out for lunch much less for a family emergency or funeral

    Advice to Management

Get off employees backs about sales at least until they learn the basics of the job

I have been working at Huntington National Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid holidays, nice pens, cool door handles

    Cons

Crazy counter productive obsessions like running to the door when someone pulls into the parking lot, obsessing on how many times you say their name...4 times...no 5 times! Screaming "Welcome" when they walk in as if creeping them out with your shrill screams makes them feel welcome. Opening the door for them while blocking their entrance way, pushing sales and asking questions while they wait to see a teller. HUNTINGTON IS NOT AN EMPLOYER OF CHOICE

    Advice to Management

Stop poisoning and destroying your employee and customer relationships with your greed, unrealistic sales goals, micromanaging employees every movement and word, and creeping people out with your counter productive obsessions. HUNTINGTON IS NOT AN EMPLOYER OF CHOICE

I worked at Huntington National Bank full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

My paycheck has never bounced is about the best possible thing that i can say.

    Cons

Poor leadership on most levels. Senior management regularly discusses big picture goals however does not follow up with thoughtful strategy. This bank fails to acknowldge issues while at the same time regularly bashes competition. The best and brightest employees are hemoraging from this company.

    Advice to Management

Managing means leading. These managers are not leaders. Get new jobs or get a life jacket because this ship is sinking

I worked at Huntington National Bank full-time

    Pros

Good place to get started in banking if you're coming from another industry.

    Cons

HR and Payroll are terrible. They never like to answer questions. In store employees are seen as sub-bankers to corporate and do not see the same promotion potential as traditional bankers. Moving from instore to traditional is seen as a promotion even though the pay grade is the exact same.

    Advice to Management

You need to hold support groups accountable. Need to focus on integration on banking centers.
