I have been working at Huntington National Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Huntington values both performance based as well as verbal output from thier employees. They value opinions and focus on career progression with thier employees. They care about the customers and communities which is demonstrated on a daily basis in all aspects of the company.

    Cons

I have been with Huntington for over 7 years and there have been some growing pains with the integration of new systems. Currently, Huntington has learned to plan and prepare with the right departments for smooth integration and transition moving forward.

    Pros

My summer at Huntington Bank was exceptional due to the managers at the Huntington Center. I was hoping my summer internship experience would be value-add, and fortunately it exceeded my expectations. Over the summer I was given an exceptional amount of access and exposure to the company. The Intern program is well-organized and designed so that what you put in, you will get out: there were lunch & learns, opportunities to be in the room with the executive leadership team and ask questions, as well as an all-intern project that put interns from different departments on one team. This project was great because it provided prospective as to how other people from other areas of the business think. Huntington has been in great communication with me since I went back to school.

    Cons

My team was great to be on, but not all teams/managers are like this. I met some managers I would not want to work for. Another con is the compensation and benefits. The benefits at Huntington are steadily declining in just the year I've been here. In addition, their salaries do not make up for the poor benefits. The salaries are often well-below the Columbus market and Huntington regularly gets "raided" by other local companies that can sometimes offer $20,000 more. You have to pick trade-offs, work-life balance is much better here than at other companies and the people/culture is a great environment to be in.

    Advice to Management

In order for Huntington to better attract and retain their talent they need to start examining the Columbus market better. Columbus is one of the smartest cities in the world in terms of education levels and Huntington probably only has a handful because they aren't willing to pay people what they're worth, and therefore they have too many mediocre people on the payroll.

I worked at Huntington National Bank full-time

    Pros

Good place to get started in banking if you're coming from another industry.

    Cons

HR and Payroll are terrible. They never like to answer questions. In store employees are seen as sub-bankers to corporate and do not see the same promotion potential as traditional bankers. Moving from instore to traditional is seen as a promotion even though the pay grade is the exact same.

    Advice to Management

You need to hold support groups accountable. Need to focus on integration on banking centers.

I worked at Huntington National Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Growing company, room for growth, employee benefits, good culture

    Cons

Mgmt chooses favorites, inconsistent punishment on breaking policy, they encourage robotic behavior rather than personalized interaction.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent with employees, don't promise one thing to someone and then offer it to another. Meeting sales quotas are great, but work within your means of time and have better training to achieve those sales quotas.
