I have been working at Huntswood full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very approachable senior leadership team and enjoyable and fun company to work for

    Cons

Immature in its approach to expanding and increasing headcount.

Focussing on a lot of different initiatives and so struggling to really define its offering to clients.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the number of things the business is developing and focus on doing a smaller number of things better.

I worked at Huntswood as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Made so many friends who were mainly contractors like myself. The day rate is decent but probably not worth it if you're commuting from London.

    Cons

This is probably the worst company I've ever worked for in my life. They just do not know how to look after their staff. All they care about is the stats in front of them. They expect new joiners to be rocket scientists in the blink of an eye. Management have no idea what they're doing - please look at your contractors and decide what you can do for them rather than ask them to resign or fire them because that is absolutely shocking. I've never witnessed anything like this in my entire career. Seriously take my advice people - If you don't want to go through hell then please do not ever work for this company.

    Pros

Daily rate if you hit target

    Cons

Long hours, unrealistic targets and threatening style of management!

    Advice to Management

Management is terrible- believe threatening staff will actually achieve hitting target.

    Pros

Have met some lovely team leaders and colleagues. Free tea, coffee and milk. Job is easy enough to get, interview and induction period straight forward. Day rate is attractive until they double your target and then a week later decrease your day rate.

    Cons

Very cliquey. Don't get anywhere for being actually good at your job. Favouritism is everywhere, you have to brown nose your way to promotion or a change in role. Quality checks are often unrealistic due to people in quality getting their mates cases and making sure that their friends get passes but if you're a nobody in quality checkers eyes feel prepared to have harsh marks due to quality being on power trips. Every now and then senior managers hold "feedback sessions" which result in nothing being taken on board. One particular ops manager tells people they are not allowed to go home until a certain amount of cases is done.

    Advice to Management

Respect is earnt. Treat people like actual humans.

    Pros

Getting the job is not the most difficult - in hindsight this is due to high turnover of staff. The daily rate is good if you can hit target otherwise you are not paid. It comes down to the luck of the draw with the cases you are assigned. Sometimes you get a big case but if you are given small ones its very likely you can not make up the deficit. it is set up in such a manner to ensure that you will get the shortest straw.

    Cons

'This is contracting you will not be paid this week until you hit X' - This is what you are threatened with by management every day and repeatedly on a DAILY basis. This creates the worst atmosphere of master and a demoralised slave workforce. You make friends with colleagues who randomly disappear - you eventually become accustomed to the regular unannounced quiet mass sacking for not hitting target. The 'career prospects' the other reviews are speaking of is seriously misleading.

    Advice to Management

Training Training Training! How is the workforce supposed to hit target if you have not trained them! The 'induction' period is absolutely useless. Understand that investing in your workforce MIGHT work better in the long run - instead of kicking and firing them while their down. I have seen many capable individuals get sacked simply because of a knowledge gap. There is clear lack of support given and 'get on with it or you wont be paid' is just unnecessarily stressful.
