I have been working at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great salary and amazing benefits (unlimited PTO, 6% 401k at 100% match, good heath insurance, etc.). Also, you can really own your career here - If you want to get to that next level some directors/managers do a great job of coaching you on how to achieve it. Big enough to get some large clients, but not too big like a BIG 4 where you are a number (been there done that) and the only number that matters is utilization. The medium size is also good because you really can get to know people in your organization but not in an overbearing way like a boutique firm would be.

    Cons

The worst IT in the world. I think the IT support is underfunded or understaffed because it's so hard to get something actually fixed or someone in the states on a screen share.

    Advice to Management

Put more $ toward IT support. A walk-up a desk in the Chicago office would be nice. Allow people to get Macs, it's 2017. I personally work so much quicker on a Mac and could do my own troubleshooting but my director never approved it.

    Pros

    Great location and knowledgeable co-workers.

    Cons

Strict dress code that should be a bit more relaxed.

    Advice to Management

If an employee is not client facing the dress code should be a bit more relaxed.

I worked at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is a "Work Hard, Play Hard" mentality for consultants who are out in the field. There are lots of chances to succeed and a lot of connections and networking to be done. You can learn a lot from this opportunity and I recommend it very much.

    Cons

There is a "Work Hard, Play Hard" mentality for consultants who are out in the field. You end up working and just being with the same people for long periods time in a day, especially on the road. It can be great if you work well together, but not so much if the chemistry isn't there.

    Advice to Management

Nothing to change other than create a more stable management structure. The job will weed out any people who aren't fit for the lifestyle.

    Pros

Great work life balance and benefit package. Collaborative, passionate team and culture. Fast-paced environment with opportunity to take on responsibility early in career.

    Cons

Must be willing to travel 100% with limited opportunity to take a break from this lifestyle.

    Advice to Management

Provide better rotational opportunities for analysts to explore areas of interest. Also consider opportunities to take a hiatus from the road for internal development/growth projects.
