    Pros

Most of the people at the company are truly awesome and there is a sincere focus on delivering results for the client. There's unlimited PTO which is a bonus!

    Cons

Huron is having some growing pains - they are not yet established enough to be selective with their clients and as a public company face the pressure from investors for sustained growth each year which has led to less than ideal projects. Specifically in the healthcare practice, the projects have become increasingly difficult with horrible travel (3+ hours from the nearest airport), tighter deadlines, and much larger scope while team sizes have remained the same leading to much more work with the same if not fewer resources. They seem to be abiding by the reverse of the consulting cardinal rule - they (meaning leadership and sales) "over-promise and under-deliver."

    Advice to Management

Be selective with clients and project scopes to ensure success for both Huron employees and clients.

I have been working at Huron Consulting Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great compensation and benefits for employees

    Cons

Consulting methodology is vertical versus horizontal

    Advice to Management

Change how bonuses are allocated. Solutions work in silos and limit opportunities for greater benefits.

    Pros

Huron RC consultants get management experience VERY early
Due to the fast pace, you get plenty of opportunities to show up

    Cons

Promotions are rigidly based on time in grade
Huron culture has had a negative impact on legacy Stockamp practices

    Pros

Great company to kick off your career, give you opportunities to work with executive level leadership in the client within a fairly short time after joining, and your development is really in your hands. They ask a lot of their people but also treat you well.

    Cons

Long hours and travel can be difficult. You specialize within certain industry areas and your career growth is limited if you want to switch / move around.

I have been working at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Huron has a fantastic culture, with a work-life balance that is very hard to find in the consulting field. Combined with an open-door policy for company leadership, strong peer networks, and a constantly improving training program, Huron is a great company to work at and grow. With the typical consulting constants like frequent travel and the occasional long night, it is nice to be working side-by-side with intelligent and genuinely nice colleagues who will support your career along with their own.

    Cons

I don't consider Huron's salaries to be competitive with other major consulting firms. If I am going to be spending the majority of my time away from home I would like to be compensated a bit more along the industry averages.

    Advice to Management

Never let Huron move away from the culture that makes it great
