    Pros

Most of the people at the company are truly awesome and there is a sincere focus on delivering results for the client. There's unlimited PTO which is a bonus!

    Cons

Huron is having some growing pains - they are not yet established enough to be selective with their clients and as a public company face the pressure from investors for sustained growth each year which has led to less than ideal projects. Specifically in the healthcare practice, the projects have become increasingly difficult with horrible travel (3+ hours from the nearest airport), tighter deadlines, and much larger scope while team sizes have remained the same leading to much more work with the same if not fewer resources. They seem to be abiding by the reverse of the consulting cardinal rule - they (meaning leadership and sales) "over-promise and under-deliver."

    Advice to Management

Be selective with clients and project scopes to ensure success for both Huron employees and clients.

    Pros

Offer two week paid paternity leave which is really nice. Generally try to take care of their employees. Competitive pay and benefits.

    Cons

Management structure is based on the structure of a consulting company (coach/coachees) so it is not conducive for all types of people.

    Pros

Great compensation and benefits for employees

Consulting methodology is vertical versus horizontal

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall good benefits and friendly coworkers. Good friends with most people I've met and worked with at the firm.

    Cons

The firm emphasizes a series of functional specialties ex: revenue cycle or workday implementation. Therefore, advancement is based on specialization or seniority not on any merit. The company prides itself on culture and pay for performance but at junior levels it's fairly absent. Employee interests and goals are often ignored and you are placed into whatever bucket is convenient for management at the time. The junior employees that stay longer than a year put up with any gripes, the rest leave between 12-18 months.

    Advice to Management

There are few avenues for junior employees to provide meaningful, regular, and actionable feedback. There is a disconnect between Huron and the industry (ex: Accenture isn't the only other firm in the world). There is a disconnect between management and staff (ex: poor engagement staffing).

    Pros

Great benefits, smart people, flexible work arrangements - unless client commitments dictate otherwise. ability to "see something, do something" - Very open to implementing change if you have the right sponsorship and commitment

    Cons

growing really fast and working on bringing the historical great culture with them but not always succeeding. Very Chicago-centric, need to put focus on empowering remote employees to sustain the growth and talent needs

    Pros

Benefits are good (401k match is excellent), work-life balance is decent and managers have an open door policy.

    Cons

work hours can be extreme for field personnel; travel is nearly 100% of the time. The clients are very demanding and consultants are always dealing with dissatisfied clients.

    Advice to Management

The management team needs to follow the value statements as well as create software solutions that clients will find easy to use without frustration.
