I worked at Huron Consulting Group full-time

    Pros

Great middle level team members, fun to work with and be around.

    Cons

Management team only cared about meeting their numbers, not investing in time or people even when there was opportunity to reduce operational expenses.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your people.

    Pros

Incredible people at the analyst level, life-long friends to bond with over long, difficult hours of work and travel

    Cons

Disregard for work/life balance and the emotional toll this lifestyle takes on the team. You will stare at Excel and do manual work instead of doing strategy/problem solving for the client. Compensation and incentives are misaligned - no matter how hard or well you work, you will get raises and promotions at the same time as everyone else.

I have been working at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Aggregated reputation of acquired companies. Not sure that there is a true "Huron" reputation. Wide range of solutions to what ails healthcare.

    Cons

Very loose management structure. Not a high degree of listening. Not sure of the competency of most corporate office individuals.

    Advice to Management

Walk the walk...seems like lots talk about change, but not much actual doing.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Potential for relatively quick advancement. Mostly people in their twenties who are sociable and intelligent. Experiences differ significantly between which practice or group you are placed in.

    Cons

Long hours; unclear project objectives. Yearly promotion frequency for some groups (other firms have mid-year promotions)

    Advice to Management

Stop telling recruits that they will get much of a say in what type of projects they'll be put on. With a few exceptions, people are placed based on the particular needs of the practice and the individual's knowledge.

I have been working at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible PTO policy - take what you need.
Benefits - $750 gift card benefit every quarter for every 25 nights spent out of town.
    Year end Bonuses
    Rarely work Fridays

    Cons

Every project I've been on we have had to travel to the client site every week. There have been weeks where I have done absolutely nothing except sit there and eat up hotel/travel/etc. expenses. The travel is horrible and there are plenty of weeks where I could have accomplished more working remotely.

Also my Associate is a major con. He thinks hes an MD.

    Advice to Management

Allow your employees to work remotely more. I have been here for a year and am already starting to apply elsewhere.
