I have been working at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management is generally very accessible and open to new ideas. Company makes an effort to evolve, and there is less bureaucracy compared to other companies (although are still office politics)

    Cons

As much as the company tries to take on new internal initiatives and develop their people, there is a lack of accountability in execution. Ultimately your experience here will come down to your project team- you have a 50/50 chance of working with intelligent and motivated people who are primarily interested in bringing value to the client, or getting stuck in a dead-end role where your only responsibility is to remain billable

    Advice to Management

Focus less on growth and more on the quality of current staff. Also need more emphasis on managers that are focused on people-development and project management

    Cons

    Pros

Superb insurance and 6% match of yearly salary. Very hard to beat in the industry. Also, unlimited PTO.

    Cons

Lower base pay than competitors. Long time to promote, and an unwillingness to reward experience and achievement with higher pay.

    Advice to Management

Reconfigure salary bands. Do away with silly "bring all promotions to the base, no matter what". Provide greater transparency in management decisions, and more notice to employees than just two weeks when there is a RIF. You expect your employees to be loyal to you, do them the same courtesy when ripping away employment.

    Cons

+ Lots of changes and shifts in current and new businesses with some new leadership
+ Leadership communication and transparency has improved
+ Slower integration of various businesses/practices to create a one-firm approach is in process and can be a limiting factor to the rate of growth
