I have been working at Huron Consulting Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Huron has smart people and excellent training at entry levels. Unlike some consultancies, there is opportunity for advancement without an MBA, if that appeals to you. You'll get senior executive exposure even at the analyst level. Pay and benefits are competitive. There are opportunities to work internationally or at the very least transfer offices around the country if you have a desire.

    Cons

Long hours, par for the course in consulting. Like most consultancies, the staffing model can exposure you to lots of travel, a pro or a con depending on the person.

    Advice to Management

Keep recruiting talented individuals. Increase brand presence and expand practice areas.

    Pros

Most of the people at the company are truly awesome and there is a sincere focus on delivering results for the client. There's unlimited PTO which is a bonus!

    Cons

Huron is having some growing pains - they are not yet established enough to be selective with their clients and as a public company face the pressure from investors for sustained growth each year which has led to less than ideal projects. Specifically in the healthcare practice, the projects have become increasingly difficult with horrible travel (3+ hours from the nearest airport), tighter deadlines, and much larger scope while team sizes have remained the same leading to much more work with the same if not fewer resources. They seem to be abiding by the reverse of the consulting cardinal rule - they (meaning leadership and sales) "over-promise and under-deliver."

    Advice to Management

Be selective with clients and project scopes to ensure success for both Huron employees and clients.

    "Great culture, but uncertain future."

    Pros

Great culture, great people. Management have a high level of expertise, and they usually have extensive backgrounds in accounting or economics. Great benefits with 20 days off from work per year. Good perks such as a traveling bonus and Blackberry.

    Cons

Low reputation (especially international). The company is currently downsizing and going through some restructuring. The whole strategy consulting side was recently terminated. The future of the company may be unstable. They are mostly acquiring other companies to keep expanding. The company is so small that when one manager leaves, his/her whole team might leave with him/her.

    Advice to Management

Please be more consistent and optimistic about the company.
