I worked at Hussey Seating full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Backwoods campus, great people, good benefits & some upward mobility. Compensation is good for the geographic location.

    Cons

Senior management seems very distracted, almost unable to give changes the opportunity to deliver results before deciding a different approach is needed.

    Advice to Management

Stop shifting focus every couple of years to the latest pop management method, and deliver more continuity to your workforce. Frequently restructuring the business, both organizationally and physically is incredibly disruptive. Change is good, when necessary, but excessive change communicates desperation on the part of management to find something that works, and reflects poorly on past decisions made.

    "Not a bad company"

I worked at Hussey Seating full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some good people work for this small town company with a great history of almost 180 years. Some of the products are rock solid while others lack attention. Great location and grounds in the woods of Maine close to the coast.

    Cons

Penny wise and dollar stupid. Management seems to ignore customer feedback while acting as if they care. Incredibly slow at times to respond to quality/warranty issues which often leads to customers feeling as if they are on their own. The industry has continuous margin pressure with little opportunity for growth. Competition is also increasing.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your customers and support them with more than lip service. Be less passive.
