    Pros

    Good pay, good customer service

    Cons

Manipulative and condescending management, poor scheduling

    Advice to Management

Students who are your employees are students first and employees second. My time at your company was a constant battle between management constantly calling me while in class to come cover shifts.

    I worked at Hy-Vee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers are friendly and easy to get to know.

    Cons

scheduling. Poor scheduling notification. Most schedules will not post until mid week for the following week. Makes it hard for those who need day care, and a work/life balance. Full timers, required to work every weekend. Understandable this is retail!!

    Advice to Management

Create a rotating schedule for hourly employees. The older generation are a great asset to Hy-vee's, stop treating this age group like the beginner employees. Show respect to all!! We are all special and would love to feel valuable.

    I worked at Hy-Vee full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good company to advance quick if you are self motivated and are willing to work long, hard hours with quite a bit of sacrifice.

    Cons

Management tends to work in cliques and the fair, liberal minded male bosses and counterparts, for the matter, are really hard to find in this company. A lot of sweat and tears are required with very little reward in the end. The first sign of being tired the vultures tend to pounce.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as the valuable back bone of the company they really are. Realize YOUR team needs to take a step back to breathe fresh noncorporate air from time to time; especially when you are expected (and scheduled) to work 60+ hours for the salary pay of 50. Don't forget your part time help either because they are the ones that gives the "team" the power and strength to accomplish all that that YOU do.

I have been working at Hy-Vee full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a stable job that won't be going anywhere, the demands are all manageable

    Cons

Terrible mismanagement, utter lack of organization stemming from a complete lack of understanding what each department's daily duties and any communication with heads of the store

    Advice to Management

Get involved in the daily routine. Stop standing around chatting. Get out if the departments that don't need your help and start taking shifts in the ones that do. Accountability to all department heads needs to actually be done, stop letting things slide and stop letting them get away with it cause that's just who they are.
