I have been working at Hy-Vee part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Friendly coworkers

    Fast training

Adequate pay - enough to let me pay my own way through college

    Flexible scheduling

    Cons

Since every store is semi-independent, some decisions regarding employee review times and pay raises may vary depending on the store manager's preferences.

It seems to me that advancement (at least in upper-level positions) depends less on skill and more on who you know within the company.

At least at my store location, unrealistic demands placed on departments by upper management; things that weren't feasible based on the amount of help we had or how busy we were.

I have been working at Hy-Vee full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Besides different opportunities, you have investment certificates and decent health benefits. This is has kept me at HyVee for the time I have been there.

    Cons

I'm not sure of any specific cons to working at HyVee. Their has been ups and downs over the years. But that is true with any job.

    Advice to Management

I wish their were reviews for all the department managers. The employees work with their department manager daily in their specific department and can draw a picture that may be overlooked or not noticed by HR or the store director (positive or negative). This would help the manger(s) know where he/she needs to improve in ways not recognized by HR or by the store director and obviously it needs to be anonymous. But the communication would be beneficial all around including the employees in each department.
