I worked at Hyatt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing employee benefits with room for growth, Hyatt as a brand is amazing and truly cares about its employees.

    Cons

The particular property that I worked at was poorly run and created a hostile work environment. There was room for growth, but little training was provided in order to reach that point.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what hourly employees are saying, hire more qualified people to run the property. If you don't want everyone to transfer out, create a place where people want to work.

    Cons

I can't really think of any cons other than that it get really hectic during convention and other events which bring large crowds to the city.

I have been working at Hyatt (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic travel benefits and plenty of opportunities for advancement or transfer. Upper management does their best to make ground-level work environments fun.

    Cons

My department in particular is kind of a disaster. The manager is neglectful and self-absorbed. HR has a lot of very good listeners with an excellent open door policy, but action isn't really taken and follow-up is scarce.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to whether your department heads are doing a good job. High turnover should be a red flag!

I have been working at Hyatt full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hyatt is more than a company its a family. The people here truly care about one another and look to help in any way possible. As an overall company there is a strong emphaisis on internal development and promoting from within. Transfer and travel opportunities are endless and every manager I have had does whatever they can to help get me to the next level.

    Cons

It can be hard to tell the difference between some of the brands Hyatt has, (ie. Regency vs Grand, vs Andaz) this can make it tougher to determine which is the best fit for you. I guess you can just work your way through all of them!

    Advice to Management

Keep developing the talent from within. There are to many companies that over look the potential talent that is already in the company. Kudos to the way you take care of your own.
