I have been working at Hyatt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits and great pay

    Cons

    Unfair scoring system no backup

    Advice to Management

If you want to employees to constantly have 70%+ score then you should as well. It makes no sense to scrutinize your employees or at least your front desk workers for having a low score when your own scores are literally negative.

(This is for Hyatt in general) Find a new scoring system instead of Medallia. It's too flawed, a front desk agent's score has to suffer if the guest has a bad overall stay. That should be the Hotel's low score. not the individual.

Communication needs to improve. As an example a Front Desk worker shouldn't find out a week later that the minibar options have changed by the guest asking for an item that we never knew was added, It makes us look bad and incompetent, It can be very embarrassing.

Telling an employee that they should be more like another employee that many feels get favoritism does not help anyone improve. Try to actually get to know your employee and try to figure out their weakness and help them improve upon it instead.

Stand up for your employees. It can be very difficult for employees to have any confidence in management or even themselves when Managers will only listen to guests that clearly have a history of lying to get some kind of compensation. It's a terrible feeling knowing that someone will be getting anything for free because of a screw up that never happened that you're blamed for. Also, try to stop rewarding guest that are clearly abusive in many ways to Hotel employees. There is a clear reason why most of our regulars are "Handle with care" they can yell, threaten even invade our personal space constantly and get free points, meals or even have their entire stay comped. If they know that they can get away with this behavior regularly and get free things for it, they will always come back and make our jobs miserable. "They bring in money" is not a valid reason. People are always looking for a room that has more money and 10 times the class. We should not depend on the money of these types of people. One thing that stood out to me during my orientation was" Employees always come first." I have yet to see that practiced here.

I worked at Hyatt full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The morning meetings help us understand what has to be done or if we have any extra special things we need to do for the guest. That's very interesting because every day we had something different to look forward to.

    Cons

The down side to working as a house keeper is that you can try your best to make every guest happy but sometimes you just cant. some guest have situations you just cant solve on your own so you have to have a manager step in to defuse the situation. that makes me feel like I'm not doing my job right.

    Advice to Management

No advice. Sometimes a managers job can be difficult. Having to deal with employees, customers and every ones personalities, wants and needs can get rough.
