    Pros

It’s all about career opportunities… this is a place where the staff really are very good friends. It makes it a great place to work as you enjoy the people you work with.
There is structure and support for further training and development here; however, associates are empowered to find unique ways to make our guests stay more enjoyable as well as the ability to find your own way to be successful at Hyatt. Our best ideas and innovations come from those who work with our guests every day.
I started off my career with Hyatt in an entry level position and worked in many different areas of the business. You can grow with this company and yet have many different experiences.
Can't beat the benefit of staying at other Hyatt properties for free.

    Cons

The hospitality business can mean long hours at times. It is about pleasing our guests and we run a 24 hour operation. This cn be challenging at times.

    Advice to Management

The focus is now completely on our people. Keep it up.

    Pros

Amazing benefits - in terms of - what company lets you stay at their hotels for free!!!

    Cons

Can be long hours depending on what department you work in.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you take care of your leaders, as well as you take care of your line level staff.

    Pros

The best reason to work at the Hyatt Place is the amount of connection you can have with the guests. Being able to check them in and then serve them beer/wine allows you the opportunity to really get to know the people staying at the hotel. Ours is a pretty busy location, so you learn all sorts of things about the U.S. from the people that you meet!

    Cons

My property doesn't really foster promotion, notably because there isn't much room for promotion at the Hyatt Places. The other thing is that we are being paid front desk attendant pay to be a concierge, front desk attendant, bartender, barista and cook... that's hardly worth it...

    Advice to Management

    Nothing - they're great!

    Pros

It is a family run company. Once you are part of the inner family circle you are hooked. You can make a career by traveling from one exciting city to the other experiencing different cultures learning new languages and enjoying life to the fullest. If you are stuck in one place you will need a bit more patience but if you are good, you will succeed.

    Cons

Pay is never good in any hotel company, nor are the hours. Hyatt leaves a lot of freedom to its individual hotels, hence the experience will not be consistent. Each hotel is reflecting the culture of its General Manager or Regional VP, which at times might be a downside working for this otherwise phenomenal company.

    Advice to Management

    Walk the talk.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

It's not as big as other major hotel chains, so there is a real family atmosphere. Everytime you meet someone from Hyatt and tell them what property you work at they ramble off five people they know who work there. I've never met any person working for Hyatt that we didn't know at least or two of the same people.

    Cons

Because it has less properties than other major chains there aren't as many options for promotions. The compensation seems to be a little less than other companies as well, but the slightly lesser pay is quickly forgotten when you actually enjoying going into work everyday.

    Advice to Management

Practice putting [guest] service first, don't just say it.

    Cons

Long hours, weekends and nights, but thats the nature of the beast in Hotel industry

    Advice to Management

Focus on the middle managers, a lot of time and enrgy spento on making sure associates are happy and engaged and senior managers are rewarded with a bonus, the middle managers, Dept heads and assts work really hard and should be recognized too

    Pros

There is the opportunity to transfer within departments at the hotel if you are still discovering your ultimate career path. If you already know your ultimate career goal, there are specific paths identified to help you reach those goals. You can move to different hotels around the country or around the world, and they pay relocation costs to do so.

    Cons

The hours can be long, and there is stiff competition for the best positions. They are not known to have the best pay scale in the industry, but are known instead as a training ground where you learn the skills necessary to move to another hotel chain with higher pay.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the career aspirations of new managers, and be prepared to discuss career directions and potential with them.

    Pros

If you don't mind working a couple times per month and receiving great hotel discounts when traveling, then this place is awesome! Overall, most everyone at the hotel seems happy, not just while in front of customers, but also behind the scenes.

    Cons

You can do the most incredible work, but if you want to advance you are going to have to wait for the person ahead of you to leave the company.

    Advice to Management

As an on-call employee, it is not uncommon to learn about news weeks after it has been presented. I think that they should make a better effort to communicate news to on-call employees via e-mail or invite us when everyone else receives the news.
Also, many employees work here as a second job. Learn what they do elsewhere and see if their expertise can be used at the hotel, too.

    Pros

Great place to work for those seeking a career with a great hotel company. This company is full of great people who really want the best for the company and their colleagues.

    Cons

This is a hospitality company which means you need to be available pretty much all of the time. But if you love to service others it is very rewarding.

    Advice to Management

Focus on service is fantastic and what we all love about the company. Keep in mind the resources needed when attempting to manage the many items that we all concentrate on.
