I have been working at Hyland

    Pros

Hyland cares about employees. The work environment is fantastic. Opinions are valued from every level of employee. The work hard play hard mentality is genuinely encouraged and the company stresses the importance of quality time at home. The opportunities are endless if you are willing to take advantage.

    Cons

Management is in some cases promoted based on length of device and not qualification or ability to do a good job. However, this is just further proof of loyalty to the employees.

I have been working at Hyland full-time

    Pros

Delightful campus and work environment in Westlake, Ohio. Great experience for new IT professionals wanting to grow their career. Excellent community involvement (Hyland will pay you up to 12 hours VTO or Volunteer Time off).

    Cons

Pay is lower than industry averages (company tries to justify with optional perks). Some employees receive private stock options which may eventually pay off in the long run. Many experienced employees leave for jobs at customer or partner companies (for better pay). This leads to a great deal of churn and burn for new employees. Remote employees and offices are treated as second rate citizens.

I worked at Hyland full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company that cares about it's employees and offers great perks and benefits as well as a relaxed work environment.

    Cons

Pay is a little below what you would make at other companies, it is competitive but slightly below but some of that is made up for with their perks and just a great work environment.

    Pros

Great work environment and culture, teams and coworkers are eager to help you out with your different projects. Lots of benefits and perks for interns.

    Cons

Some of the stuff you may be working on may be bland or boring. Just got to fight through those types of projects when handed to you.

I have been working at Hyland full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Hyland embraces training and continuous pursuit of mastery. The experiences are diverse and challenging. The pressure to perform well is low, but they motivate you to generate results anyway. Management is very flexible and reasonable with personal/family needs. It's not exactly a results-only work environment, but if you're producing excellent work, there are many informal benefits to being an employee. The work/life balance that they espouse is probably the truest part of Hyland's identity. Coming to work is a joy.

    Cons

Even though they are beyond the size and presence of a start-up, they have many small-minded mentalities and practices usually attributed to start-ups. Management dances around critical feedback (especially if it's negative) and there are "untouchables" in the organization that are around, simply because they have already been around. The company pats itself on the back quite a bit (usually deservedly so, but not always), so there is some complacency in areas that are crucial to its future excellence and status as a leader.
